Reminder: Make your project happen with 4Culture
Your creative work may look different this year, but our Art Projects grant can still support you. We fund artists and small arts groups—from traditional to contemporary, emerging to established—who are working in all creative disciplines and genres to enhance the cultural life of King County.
Due to the economic impact of COVID-19, our Lodging Tax revenues are significantly reduced for 2021. Unfortunately, this means that the amount of funds available for Project grants this year is lower than previous years. For more information on our current budget, please read this letter from our Executive Director, Brian J. Carter.
Art Projects grant managers Heather Dwyer and Doreen Mitchum are available to discuss these changes and answer any questions you may have about how this impacts your application.

Equity Investments
In order to combat inequities in our grantmaking, 4Culture is introducing Equity Investments. This practice will incorporate indicators of structural inequity into our panel process, including geographic location, income, operating budget, audiences served, and project focus. By prioritizing these factors, we intend to more equitably distribute funds to communities that have historically been excluded from cultural funding.
Each of our grant programs will implement an Equity Investment system tailored to the specific needs of its applicants; please read the After You Submit section of this page for details on how Equity Investments will function for this grant. This organization-wide change—and what we learn about its impact—is an important step towards more equitable funding at 4Culture and throughout the King County cultural sector.
