Welcome to our Easter newsletter

It’s been a busy few months for us despite lockdown and we have lots of news to share with you.

We’ve seen some great efforts by local fundraisers taking on physical challenges to help our charity. It’s lovely to have so much support in the local community.

As lockdown is gradually lifted we hope to be able to carry out more physical fundraising events again. Keep reading to find out what we’ve got planned over the coming months. Have a lovely Easter, let’s hope the sunshine continues!

Valentine Raffle

You fell in love with our Valentine Raffle and helped us raise £660.

The lovely winner of the first prize hamper, Theresa from Torrington, very kindly donated an extra £50 when she found out she’d won ❤️

Thanks to everyone who took part and massive thank you to Lyncroft Stores in Landkey for selling tickets for us.

Beat the Winter Blues

Our series of Winter virtual challenges was a great success.

It was so much fun looking at all your photos and we were really impressed with everyone’s efforts.

Well done to all those who took part - you helped us raise over £800.

What's coming up...

Barnstaple 10k 2021

We've been busy planning our fifth Care for Kids Barnstaple 10k, which takes place on Sunday 4 July.

We’ve decided to make the run virtual again this year, as there is too much uncertainty for us to feel comfortable with organising a physical event. Last year’s virtual 10k was excellent and we’re sure we’ll have lots of support again this year. You can choose any location or time to complete your run as long as it’s during Sunday 4 July. If you choose to run in Barnstaple, you’ll have the opportunity to use our finish line and collect your medal and T-shirt from us in Rock Park.

Mindful in May

One of our ambassadors is hosting a wellbeing group on Facebook for the month of May. It will be a £5 donation to our charity to join for the month. Each week Jo will post wellbeing activities and ideas for you to join in with and each weekend there will be guest videos including meditation, pilates and relaxation. We’ll be launching Mindful in May in the coming week and will send you an invitation to join in.

Bideford Bike Show 2021

We've been selected as one of the chosen charities to benefit from this year's Bideford Bike Show. Unfortunately last year’s event had to be cancelled but we have a new date for 2021 - Saturday 28 August.

It looks like it will be a brilliant event for all the family, with lots to see and do - music, entertainment and food as well as bikes.

Take a tour of our latest transformation project at Caroline Thorpe Ward with Fran Greenaway, our Trustee and Play Specialist on the ward.

We’ve had lots of nice feedback from families using the room. We’re busy making plans for our next project and will update you in our next newsletter.
