COVID-19 cases are on the rise in Chicago, especially among younger people. We must continue to wear masks, wash our hands, and keep our distance. We have come a long way in the past year and we must remain vigilant.
Please continue to get vaccinated when it is your turn. If you are over 65 and are having trouble getting an appointment, please call our office at 773.736.5594 and we will try to assist you.
Vaccine Phase 1C has begun in the City. All essential workers and adults with underlying medical conditions are eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine. Currently, vaccination is available by appointment only. The best way to schedule an appointment is by contacting your healthcare provider. You can also schedule an appointment through Zocdoc.com/vaccine.
The City has updated COVID-19 regulations. Most indoor limits remain the same, while outdoor space regulations have been updated:
- Bars and Restaurants: Maximum outdoor table size can increase to ten people, with tables set up so that patrons are six feet from patrons at other tables. Indoor table size remains limited to no more than six people.
- Social Events: Total outdoor capacity can increase to the lesser of 50% or 100 people.
- Performance Venues, Theaters and Seated Spectator Events: Outdoor venues with capacity greater than or equal to 200 can operate at 25% capacity. Smaller venues can operate at no more than 50% capacity or 50 people.
- Outdoor Recreation: Maximum groups of 50; multiple groups permitted.
- Places of Worship: No outdoor capacity limit provided that six feet of social distancing is maintained between parties.
- Health and Fitness Centers: Outdoor classes can increase to 100 people.

Update from the Chicago Park District
|
|
|
|
The Chicago Park District was notified by 39th Ward Alderman Samantha Nugent on Wednesday, March 17, 2021, that a sheen and odor observed on the North Branch of the Chicago River was traced back to a source of water flowing out of the south bank of the river at the Eugene Field Park property located southeast of the intersection of North Pulaski Rd and West Foster Ave. Within hours of notification, the Chicago Park District’s environmental consultant, Arcadis US, Inc, and their subcontractor, Hepaco, evaluated the bank and deployed absorbent booms on the river to contain the sheen. This work was done in consultation with the Chicago Department of Public Health’s (CDPH) Environmental Enforcement Division and the United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA).
Since March 17, Arcadis and Hepaco have visited the site on a daily basis to observe the flow, improve the containment system, and make downstream observations of sheen and odor. Improvements to the containment include deployment of a hard boom, multiple absorbent soft booms, absorbent pads, and other materials designed to absorb oil-containing media. This work will continue as the Park District works with CDPH and USEPA to identify the source of the petroleum contamination and do everything possible to stop the release as soon as possible.

Vaccination Distribution: Phase 1C
|
|
The City of Chicago is now in Phase 1C of vaccination distribution. Under this phase, all essential workers and residents age 16-64 with underlying medical conditions will be eligible to receive the vaccine.
Chicagoans that are currently eligible under Phase 1A and 1B will still be eligible.
In Phase 1C, essential workers include:

Vaccine Availability and Appointments

Vaccine supply is still limited, but eligible Chicagoans can sign-up for vaccine availability notifications. There are a few ways to do so.
- Through your private medical provider and their health system.
- At retail pharmacies, such as Walgreens and CVS.
- At dedicated city and state vaccination sites.
- Visit Zocdoc.com/vaccine to sign up for notifications.
- Continue reading below for more information on the City's new mass vaccination sites.
- At large employment sites.
- The City will reach out to large employers to offer vaccinations to all the employees that work on-site.

Mass Vaccination Site Openings
|
|
The City of Chicago announced today that two new mass vaccination sites will open on April 5th. The sites will be located at Chicago State University and the American Airlines Conference Center at Gallagher Way (next to Wrigley Field).
Registration for vaccination appointments at both vaccination sites will be available on Zocdoc.com/vaccine. Appointments will be posted on ZocDoc later this week. Additional appointments will be added daily. All Chicagoans eligible in phase 1A, 1B, or 1C will be able to schedule appointments.

Vaccination Site for Union Essential Workers
|
|
|
In partnership with the Chicago Federation of Labor, the City of Chicago is opening a new vaccination site for union essential workers as Chicago expands eligibility under Phase 1C at the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 399 (2260 S. Business Reopening: Phase IV
|
|
The City of Chicago is in Phase IV of Business Reopening. New updates include:
- Libraries are open at 25% indoor capacity with protective measures in place.
- Bars, restaurants and other establishments with a Tavern or Consumption on Premises-Incidental Activity license must have all patrons off premises by 1 a.m.
- Liquor stores, grocery stores and other establishments with a Package Goods license must cease alcohol sales at 11 p.m.
