Grant deadline at 5pm today!
The four current Government grant schemes (Tier 2, Tier 3, and 4 Local Restrictions and National Lockdown Restrictions) and one-off payments for retail, hospitality and leisure will close at 5pm TODAY (Wednesday 31st March). You can find all the information for these grants on this council webpage - be sure to apply as soon as possible if you haven't already!
Other council funds available
The council's hub page also includes links to a number of other grants and funds, as well as useful information, including:
  • Additional Restrictions Grant: The eligibility now includes start-ups who had begun operating within six months before March 2020 lockdown. Sole traders and other small business owners will still be eligible as before. All information and evidence will need to be submitted as part of the online application form. The closing date is Friday 9th April at 5pm.
  • Restart Grant: The government requires additional information for this grant, hence it will not be administered automatically so you will need to apply. Online application form and info will be on the hub page soon.
  • Other information on the page: one-off payments for retail, hospitality and leisure; funding for employers through the Kickstart scheme; extra protection for commercial tenants; additional information on loans; information for the self-employed, and one-to-one advice and guidance provided through Portobello Business Centre.

Reopening guidance
As we're sure you'll know, the Government released a roadmap out of lockdown in February, and some key changes are coming up for businesses in April. You can see a key breakdown of the roadmap here, while the council's Director of Public Protection has released a letter to provide guidance to businesses that are currently operating or will be planning to reopen in line with the Government’s proposed dates for easing of current restrictions. The letter advises on how to return and maintain both a safe working environment and a safe, hygienic setting for customers and staff - read the full letter here.
