Welcome 2021/2022 CHS-MC Board!

We are so pleased to welcome so many new Directors to the Board!

All members are welcome to join us for the Board orientation via Zoom on Wednesday April 7th. CHS President Paul Wilton will be joining us for a presentation on not-for-profit governance. If you have ever been curious about the CHS-MC Board, this would be an excellent time to join us as we introduce our governance documents, policies and expectations of Board Directors.

To register, please email the Chapter office at info@hemophiliamb.ca and we'll send you the Zoom link!

CHS James Kreppner Memorial Scholarship & Bursary

The CHS James Kreppner Memorial Scholarship and Bursary Program is a posthumous tribute to James Kreppner, a long-time volunteer and member of the CHS Board of Directors, and a highly respected and exemplary activist. He passed away in 2009 from complications related to HIV and hepatitis C. The CHS James Kreppner Scholarship and Bursary Program is an ongoing tribute to James’ dedication, intelligence and commitment to the CHS and community service.

The program is open to Canadians with inherited bleeding disorders: hemophilia (factor VIII or IX), von Willebrand disease, rare factor deficiencies, platelet function disorders, carriers, and those who contracted hepatitis C or HIV through a blood transfusion. Spouses and children of the people mentioned above may also apply.

Application forms for each program, which include all the criteria, are available here:

CHS-MC Spring Fling A Success!

Thank you to the sponsors, guests and Chapter members who supported the CHS-MC Spring Fling Virtual Fundraiser! It was very gratifying to see how Chapter members supported this event by purchasing a dinner, making donations, purchasing support tickets as well as raffle and 50/50 tickets! We appreciate your efforts to bring your families and friends to this event. You gave us the opportunity to meet new community members and create new relationships.

Thank you to the Spring Fling planning committee for all your hard work! This group took on the challenge of a completely new event and executed it on a very short time line. Bravo! Thank you to: Dana Beljanic, Katherine and Bruce Cameron, Janet Bishop, Danielle Figler, Jeff and Lynda Regan, Shane Keilback and Cory Prestayko. Thank you to Hannah Regan for creating the artwork for the event.

Congratulations to the the Spring Fling 50/50 and raffle winners. The winners are published on the website home page www.hemophiliamb.ca

We'll share the results of the event soon!

On March 25, all 11 physicians who treat hemophilia in Quebec’s four specialized hemophilia treatment centres (HTCs) signed a letter to the Minister of Health and Social Services which concluded, “For physicians who treat hemophilia patients, this conclusion is contrary to the evidence, to best clinical practice established by national and international guidelines as well as ethical principles of equity and social justice.” The letter was co-signed by the presidents of the Association of Hemophilia Clinic Directors of Canada (AHCDC) and of the Association des médecins hématologues et oncologues du Québec (AMHOQ).
