REMINDER: Since Q2 2020-21 FY, ICSB only accepts Version 12.07.20 of the Financial Workbook. All submissions of any other versions of the Workbook will automatically be rejected. Updates include formatting and bug fixes. The Workbook is available for download here. 
Flexibility Waivers Available to Support Improvement and Innovation
SBOE has released a guide to help local schools apply for flexibility from certain state requirements. As part of Indiana’s new Performance Based Accreditation System, created with the enactment of House Enrolled Act (HEA) 1003 during the 2020 legislative session, additional flexibility is now available to all public schools and state accredited non-public schools. The HEA 1003 Flexibility Waiver Applications are available for Indiana schools through the Indiana Department of Education’s Accountability Center. Public Comment on Federal Waiver Request
IDOE is inviting the public to provide feedback regarding the state’s request for a one-year waiver from the U.S. Department of Education regarding federal accountability requirements. Individuals who wish to provide comment are encouraged to complete and submit this JotForm no later than Friday, April 16. Questions may be directed to schoolaccountability@doe.in.gov.
 
FY 2021 Final Title I Allocations
 
Final FY 2021 (SY 2020-2021) Title I allocations are now available. Districts received final award letters this week. Amendments for final allocations are due Sunday, May 30, and are now available in the Title I Application Center. Please reach out to Cole Dietrich with any questions.
 

Submitting Elementary Reading Plans
Indiana Administrative Code 511 IAC6.2-3.1 requires all public schools and state accredited nonpublic schools that have any students enrolled in kindergarten through grade three to complete and submit an elementary reading plan to IDOE by close of business on June 30. IDOE has streamlined the submission process, through use of a JotForm. This short how-to video has been created to assist schools in completing the new form. Indiana School Technology Plan
The updated survey includes traditional questions as well as new questions focused on digital learning and the implications of the pandemic for your technology environment and practices. Completion of this survey is the requirement for all public schools to qualify for the connectivity formula grant, the common school fund, and grants from IDOE’s Office of Academics. Links to this year’s survey and the guidance document, along with data from previous years, are available on the Indiana School Tech Plan website. Contact Meri Carnahan with any questions.
Annual School Hearing Screening
The Center for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Education has created several guidance documents to help address schools' frequently asked questions, assist with Child Find efforts, and provide follow-up considerations with families and school teams.

Indiana Disability Rights Seeks Input 
Each year, the Indiana Disability Rights (IDR) seeks input from the community to help determine the priorities and goals for the next year. Public comments may be provided by the online survey, email, mail, or in-person at the August IPAS Commission meeting. More information, including survey links, can be viewed here.

Annual Eco-Science Challenge

April 23, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Deadline for application: April 7

Innovative Hoosier students are invited to get involved in becoming the solution to global climate issues. Students can submit science challenge projects on a range of topics including aquaculture, vermiculture, composting, social awareness, urban farming, alternative energy and recycling initiatives in their schools and communities. 2021 Lincoln Collection Art Contest

Deadline: April 23

Reimagine the 16th president using any medium of your choice in the third annual Friends of the Lincoln Collection Art Contest. This year's contest, open to Indiana students age 10-14, will be completely virtual. This means all artwork must be submitted digitally. Each entry must include an artist’s statement that explains what medium was used to create the piece and why. Include your name, age, grade, teacher and school as well as contact information (phone and/or email) for any awards received. Only one entry per student. More information can be found here. 

TinkerFest

May 15, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Join TechPoint Foundation for Youth, Indiana University School of Education, and the Indiana State Museum for a hands-on, experiential opportunity designed to engage and inspire Indiana’s designers, builders, coders, makers, and tinkerers of all ages. Explore student solutions for completing a common household task using a chain-reaction machine. More information coming soon.

Andertti FASTTRACK Xperience

Andretti FASTTRACK Xperience (AFX) is an innovative way for students to learn STEAM concepts through the backdrop of motorsports and has been developed in partnership with Kia Motors America. The program includes engaging videos and hands-on project based classroom activities aligned to national standards for ease of implementation into the classroom. It has been purposely developed to provide FREE resources to parents and educators driving our youth to actively explore STEAM education and career paths. Learn more here. 

Virtual STEAM Days

Geared towards students in kindergarten through grade 6

Celebrate science, technology, engineering, art and math wherever you are! Enjoy videos and resources from the Indiana State Museum and community partners that demonstrate a variety of STEAM topics. Story Time From Space

Story Time from Space is a project of the Global Space Education Foundation, which sends children’s books to the International Space Station. While in space, astronauts record themselves on video reading these books to the children of Earth and share them on the Story Time from Space website.

International Children's Digital Library 

The non-profit International Children’s Digital Library identifies exemplary books that help children to understand the world around them and the global society in which they live and makes them freely available on the Internet.

Indianapolis Children's Museum - Free Lesssons

The Indianapolis Children's Museum has creat0de standards-based lessons, covering a variety of topics, written by trained educators. These lessons can be paired with books, online resources, or other museum videos, and include hands-on learning that students can complete at home or in the classroom. View materials here.

School-Wide Learning Walk Implementation Webinar

Teachers, if you are looking for ways to improve student outcomes by tapping into the expertise of your colleagues, please join IDOE on Tuesday, April 13 at 4 p.m ET for an informational session on the what, why, and how of school-wide learning walks. With support from IDOE, teacher teams will implement learning walks as a sustainable and scalable practice in the fall. Register for the informational session here. The Family and Social Services Administration: Providing Pandemic Electronic Benefits to Indiana Families Collection Window
Deadline: April 16
The Division of Family Resources (DFR) continues to partner with Indiana schools to provide Pandemic Electronic Benefits (P-EBT) to Indiana families. Corporations and schools will now need to complete a submission for each month of eligibility separately. Student data corrections for October to December 2020 will also be accepted through the portal during this period, for eligible day count and date of birth only.

Schools must submit eligibility data for January 2021 and February 2021 during this window through the FSSA P-EBT Portal, accessible via the IDOE LINK Portal. If your school was directly invited previously to the P-EBT Portal, continue to login directly here. Please refer to the submission guidance information and parent flyer on the FSSA: DFR Pandemic EBT website. Specific details regarding the changes to the P-EBT submission process and the corrections process can be found in this communication.

Supplemental Financial Reporting
Deadline: April 30
Charter schools must upload financial data in compliance with state transparency requirements outlined in IC 5-14-3.7-3. This includes two components: Supplemental Data Upload and Step Eight Fund Balance Detail. Step Eight was completed as part of the recent Form 9 financial data submission. The Supplemental Data Upload of expenditure data should be completed by Friday, April 30. Please direct any questions to Form 9.
Virtual Tools for Teachers Workshops

IDOE is offering Hoosier educators an opportunity to work with peers across the country to review, update, and create instructional resources for Tools for Teachers. PATINS AEMing for Achievement Grant
Deadline: June 30, 2021
This grant opportunity will help your school more accurately identify students who need reading accommodations and more specifically, accommodations from which they receive the most benefit. This is grounded largely within the national movement toward "Accessible Educational Materials" (AEM) in all learning environments and increased federal focus on student achievement and outcome data. Data Exchange Training Update
Deadline: July 1
In preparation for certification of Calendar and Attendance data, IDOE released additional Data Exchange training modules for reporting School Calendar, Calendar Session/Grading Period, and student data. All training is available in the IDOE Moodle “Data Exchange Training and Community” course (no enrollment key required). Contact Data Exchange with any questions.
21st Century Community Learning Center Grant
Deadline: August 1, 2021
The 21st Century Community Learning Centers Cohort 11 Request for Proposal has been released. Funds are provided to implement high-quality out-of-school time programming to support youth development and academic success. For more information, click here. The PATINS Project specialists can help problem-solve issues surrounding accessibility, assistive technology, accessible educational materials, and implementing Universal Design for Learning. Educators can reach contact the PATINS Project through their open office hours at 10 a.m. (EDT) on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday through October.
