The report of the Commission on Race and Ethnic Disparities
The Commission on Race and Ethnic Disparities has published its independent report into racial and ethnic disparities in the UK.
The report makes 24 recommendations around building trust, promoting fairness, creating agency and achieving inclusivity. They cover the aspects of change which the Commission believes will be the most effective way to meaningfully address disparities and inequalities for all those affected.
The government will consider the Commission's recommendations and will respond in due course.
Stop and search data and the effect of geographical differences
One of the biggest disparities identified by the RDU is the stop and search rate between Black and White people, which has widened in recent years.
A new methods and quality report explains the main factors which affect how we interpret stop and search rates, the effect of geographical differences, and the relative disparity between Black and White people.
Women's Health Strategy – call for evidence
The government has launched a call for evidence for its women's health strategy.
Women of all ages and backgrounds are being urged to respond. This will help document the various health issues women experience over their lives, and the significant differences between women in terms of access to and experience of services, and health outcomes.
The call for evidence seeks to examine experiences of the whole health and care system. This includes mental health, addiction services and neurological conditions, as well as issues relating specifically to women such as gynaecological conditions, menopause and pregnancy and post-natal support.
Responses to the call for evidence will run until 11:45pm on 30 May. You can find out more using the hashtag, #TalkWomensHealth or by following @DHSCgovuk. Please remember to promote it with your networks.
UK Disability Survey – share your views
The Disability Unit is inviting people to complete the UK Disability Survey. This will help inform the National Strategy for Disabled People.
The government welcomes input from ethnic minority groups to ensure representation across the country. Please share your responses on the experiences of the important issues impacting disabled people and remember to share the call for evidence with your networks.
The survey closes on 23 April 2021. Microsoft Word, British Sign Language, Easy Read, Welsh, and Braille versions are available.
