Update on the return to in-person worship task force:

As was mentioned in the March Mount Olive newsletter, the Council approved the formation of an advisory task force on the return to in-person worship at the February 15th Council meeting.  The Council reached out to the Worship and Music Team for leadership for the advisory task force, and the congregation was invited to participate in the advisory task force in late February.  The following responded to the invitation: Inge Adams, Laura Conry, Cindy Dobberke, Matt Fick, Bruce Gunderson, Glenna Gunderson, Eva Schindhelm, Karen Sperstad, and Sue Thornton.

The advisory task force has met weekly during the month of March to develop "safer" worship protocols, as well as training and guidelines for new ministry roles to make in-person worship possible. The team hopes to send these recommendations to the Mount Olive Council for review and potential approval at their April 12th meeting. Once the advisory task force's protocols are approved, the Council will then consider current COVID infection rates in setting a date for a return to in-person worship.

Thank you for your continued patience with the process and for your adapting to new expressions of worship such as Easter Sunday’s Parking Lot worship. We are glad to hear that so many of you are eager to return to in-person worship. We also understand that some of us are not yet comfortable with returning to in-person worship. That’s okay. Rest assured that our online zoom worship will continue, even when in-person worship resumes. May we continue to be bound together as the body of Christ.

Prayer & Holy Communion
Even though we are uncertain when we will be able to resume corporate worship here at Mount Olive, we remember Jesus’ promise that wherever two or three are gathered in his name, he will be there with us.  It’s because of that promise that I am inviting individuals or families to spend some time with me in prayer and the sharing of Holy Communion.  Every Tuesday from 10 a.m. – 12 noon and 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. will be time set aside specifically for Prayer & Holy Communion.
  • Please call the office to reserve your time.  Only individuals or close family members.
  • Times are every 15 minutes; enter through the office door.
  • Please wait quietly in the narthex if there are people in the sanctuary before you.
  • Masks are required in the building.
If you did not make an appointment, you may drop in, but please know you may have to wait.  Although Tuesdays are specifically for Prayer & Holy Communion, know that you can always drop in for Prayer & Holy Communion most anytime you see my truck in the parking lot.  I always have time for you.
