As of March 9, 2021, the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has announced that CalFresh is no longer considered part of the Public Charge Rule! For more information, refer to the materials provided by the California Health and Human Services Agency (CHHS) in both English and Spanish, along with guidance to additional links and legal aid resources at the links below.
 

The temporary monthly 15% increase in CalFresh benefits has been extended through September 30, 2021. Below is the latest edition of the COVID-19 prescreen in PDF form.
 

CDSS is very excited to announce their first annual CalFresh Awareness Month 2021 Kick-Off webinar on Thursday, April 22, 2021 from 10:00 to 11:30 am!  This will be an opportunity for community-based organizations and counties across California to share innovative approaches and inspiration for CalFresh awareness, outreach, and application assistance. Thanks to your feedback, the team at Code for America has made some changes to the GetCalFresh portal listed below. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to your program manager.

Now find client information faster:

• Filter applications by assister, preferred language, and (coming very
      soon) date range
• Sort by client name and submit date to make it easier to find
      applications 
• Search all applications
• Download the filtered, sorted, and/or searched application
      information as a CSV

Improved assister workflows:

• Faster dashboard loading times
• Automatically marking applications submitted from referral URLs as
      “Referral URL” under the “Assisted by” column
• See more information at once on the dashboard (compact view) 
• Default to analytics page after logging in to prevent nearby clients from seeing others’ PII

The NASPA Socioeconomic and Class Issues in Higher Education Knowledge Community is working to collect a database of promising practices that support the basic needs of college students. If you have a few moments in your day to submit your responses in the Google Doc (linked below), it would be greatly appreciated. This information is being gathered from all over the US, so please forward it to colleagues as appropriate. There is no deadline for this, but any input is valuable!
