Dear <<First Name>>,
CVG enthusiastically welcomes the Biden Administration's
inclusion of $5 billion, over eight years, for evidence-based community violence prevention programs in The American Jobs Plan. Over twenty years ago, CVG pioneered the health approach to treating violence. Now there are dozens of groups using a health-based approach and CVG plays a key role in guiding and leading the replication of the Cure Violence model in over 50 communities in more than a dozen cities in the U.S., Latin America, and the Caribbean. We look forward to continuing to apply the Cure Violence model in an increasing number of neighborhoods in the coming years.

Violence in Childhood: Measuring Violence Against Children
In the second installment of CVG's blog post series on Violence in Childhood, Dr. Susan Bissell, with support from Jule Voss, explores the difficulties associated with measuring violence against children. One of the main obstacles Dr. Susan Bissell observes is there are no internationally recognized best practices for measuring the prevalence of violence against children. You can learn more about these issues here.
West Bank Training Improves Understanding & Shifts Beliefs
CVG's MENA Program Officer, Mohammed Alshurafa, has identified several positive outcomes from his 10-day online training in the West Bank. Mohammed highlighted that the understanding of violence as a learned and contagious behavior had increased, and people who disagreed on these concepts before the training changed their perception after completing the training. In addition, the health approach training convinced the participants that violence can be prevented – even in the Palestinian context. You can learn more about CVG's most recent work in the West Bank here.
Please be on the lookout for upcoming events and ways you can support CVG!
With an abundance of gratitude,
The Entire Team at Cure Violence Global
