Greetings

Autumn: ‘the season of mists and mellow fruitfulness’ as Shakespeare would have it.
A time of ripening and dying, harvest and reflection. I just love this piece by Gretel Ehrlich.

“All through Autumn we hear a double voice: one says everything is ripe; the other says everything is dying.  The paradox is exquisite.  We feel what the Japanese call ‘aware’ – an almost untranslatable word meaning something like ‘beauty tinged with sadness’…Autumn teaches us that fruition is also death; that ripeness is a form of decay.  The willows, having stood for so long near water, begin to rust.  Leaves are verbs that conjugate the seasons.”

APRIL looks to endings and beginnings with the final of The Wheel of Segais – Shake, Rattle & Roll workshops – Maturation/ Healing/Harvest on Sunday 11 April and we’ll add in a discussion of ‘where next?’. On Tuesday 27 April it’s Full Moon – Crone Moon.

MAY
is a time to honour our ancestors and teachers who have gone before at Samhain/Halloween on the first day of May and we again honour the aging time of the year at Full Moon/Crone Moon on Wednesday 26 May.

The Woolshed awaits your wonderful presence.
Love, light and laughter

SAMHAIN / HARATUA / HALLOWEEN / LAST LIGHT

7pm, Saturday 1st May
at The Woolshed

To restore the real meaning of Halloween, we celebrate it at this time of the year when all of Nature appears to be dying and the time of darkness is upon us. In the Celtic tradition it was recognised as a major seasonal shift that dislocated time and space, opening people to other realities. This was the feast of the dead, with storytelling and divination playing an important part. In Scotland and northern England people would dress as spirits, ghosts, witches and goblins, and blacken their faces in bonfire ash for protection.  They lit candles in hollowed-out turnip lanterns to evoke eerily the dead revisiting earth. It was also a feast of peace and friendship when weapons were laid down and violence put aside.

Haratua is the time when crops are stored in pits, labours are over and when the emphasis now shifts into the bush, the domain of Tane, as a food source. The kiore is traditionally important at this time as it grows fat in late autumn and winter when feed is plentiful. It is time to hear the story of Hine-nui-te-po, goddess of death and her encounter with Maui when, in his foolishness, he tried to conquer her.

Bring stories, poems, songs, dances, reflections, readings, symbols, etc. to create our own special ceremony. A contribution to our supper feast afterwards would be appreciated.

PLEASE NOTE: The Cross- Quarter Festivals (Beltane, Lughnasadh, Samhain and Imbolc) are for members of the Grove of the Summer Stars only. The Sun festivals (both Equinoxes and both Solstices) are open to all.
ARACHNE’S WEB

Arachne is the Spider Goddess who weaves the Web of the World and, sitting at its centre, receives all knowledge that vibrates along it. Here are a few ‘vibrations’, i.e. interesting workshops not held at The Woolshed that I think you might be interested in, or upcoming events at The Woolshed not yet in the Calendar.

(Please contact Pamela if you would like an appropriate event displayed here.)

LENDING LIBRARY AT THE WOOLSHED

The lending library (books on spirituality, druidry, wicca, paganism, ritual, etc.) at The Woolshed is now open for business. Unfortunately we can’t send books out so you will just have to come and visit us at The Woolshed to access this fine library.
The link for our online library database is: http://connect.collectorz.com/users/
woolshedlib/books/view

‘Check it out – many new titles have been added.
Isa Pearl Richie’s latest book ‘Holloway Witches’ is now in the library. Some excellent reviews on Goodreads. Thank you so much Isa.
The Woolshed is a place to celebrate Spirit in Nature and warmly welcomes community participation.  Here we celebrate the turning of the Wheel of the Year in Aotearoa New Zealand by holding Festivals appropriate to the seasons approximately every six weeks.  These are the two Solstices (Winter and Summer), the two Equinoxes (Spring and Autumn) and the four Cross-Quarter Festivals – Imbolc, Beltane, Lughnasadh (when we hold a Druid Camp) and Samhain.  The four Cross-Quarter Festivals are for Grove members only and the Solstices and Equinoxes are open to all who wish to connect with the land and Her tides and times.  We also have a native tree-planting programme and are always keen for offers of help for our frequent ‘working bees’.  Our organic gardens and orchards also respond positively to extra hands.
A women-only group meets monthly on the Full Moon.

Also, if you would like to walk the hills and the bush on the farm then give us a ring –

WHEEL OF SEGAIS COURSES

The final ‘Shake, Rattle & Roll’ workshop will be Autumn: Healing/Harvest on Sunday 11 April.

These workshops are not only for those who already have a Personal Reader Kit or are thinking of getting one and would like to know more, but for any of you who would like to ‘live treefully’ for a while.

If you are interested in using the Wheel of Segais for divination, or you’d like to know more about being a Reader; or you’d like some ideas about ‘Living Treefully’ come along. At this final session we will discuss what further workshops we would like around the topic and around the Wheel.

I will supply coffee, tea and some sweet wickedness for afternoon break.

$20 koha would be appreciated.
7pm at The Woolshed

The focus of the evening is one of ‘Exploring the Divine Feminine’ and the role of the Goddess and her ‘workings’ within ourselves and in our lives.

On Tuesday 27 April we will honour our own wise woman and the wise women who have gone before us at Crone Moon.  On Wednesday 26 May we will enter the womb of the Great Mother at Cave Moon awaiting Transformation in the new cycle to come.

A contribution to ‘supper’ would be appreciated.

The Full Moon rituals are for women only. If you’re new and would like to attend just give Pamela a call on 027 206 8876.
There are only four rules

WHEEL OF SEGAIS

The book, ‘Living Treefully’ is now at the formatting stage with a deadline of printing in May and book launch in June in time for Winter Solstice and new beginnings!

The Wisdom & Way-Showing Cards have now been printed so the book and the cards will make a lovely duo.

The Wheel of Segais is a simple but profound template for understanding the innate nature of the universe and our place within it.  It allows us to perceive all that we are and all that we need as we experience the turning of the wheel of the year – the Four Seasons, the 12 streams or stages and the Well of the Salmon of Wisdom, the Well of Segais itself, in the centre.

If you would like a reading or a life coaching session in person, you can contact me at pamela@thewoolshed.com
