17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. 18 All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; 19 that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation. 20 Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.

2 Corinthians 5:17-20

What on earth am I here for?

It is a great question. It is the ultimate question of life. At some point, every single soul has to answer the question for themselves.

For some, the answer is simple. The unalienable rights found in the preamble to the constitution: “Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.” Depending upon your age and position in life, the answers to that question will vary greatly.

God‘s word offers a life driven by God’s purposes.

Colossians 1:16: “For everything, absolutely everything, above and below, visible and invisible, rank after rank after rank of angels— everything got started in him and finds its purpose in him.” (MSG)

“The purpose of your life is far greater than your own personal fulfillment, yar greater than your family, your career, or even your wildest dreams and ambitions. If you want to know why you were placed on this planet, you must begin with God.

For the next six weeks, starting Sunday, April 18, we will be worshiping, gathering in connection groups, and reading 40 daily devotions in the book, “The Purpose Driven Life.” Books are available in the narthex for purchase at $10 each. If you’re not in a connection group, we will help you find one. Be watching for more information about connection groups.

Discover your Identity & Purpose Through a Relationship with Jesus Christ.

The Purpose Driven Life is a church-wide campaign at Faith that starts April 18, 2021 in all worship services. It is an experience that will answer the most fundamental question everyone faces in life –
What on Earth Am I Here For?

Best of all, the purpose driven life will give you the opportunity be in the Word in three ways:

  1. Worship (live and online)
  2. Daily Bible study and prayer on your own for 40 days
  3. Connection groups where we share the word and live it out together in community.

If you are not in a connection group today, this is a great opportunity to join one.  click this link to fill out a form and will help you get connected and prayerfully, the impact of these 40 days will have an ongoing impact in each of our lives, our Faith Family, and our community.

Pick up a book this Sunday at church in the narthex.  They are $10 each.

I hope you will find great blessings as you participate in the “Purpose Driven Life.”

Pastor Carl

Note:  Beginning July 29, all adults entering the school buildings will be required to wear a face mask and have a temperature check.

Returning to the Altar to receive the Lord's Supper, starting May 2, at 8am and 11am services

The Board of Elders has approved returning to our previous practice of distributing the Lord's Supper. Starting Sunday, May 2, 2021 at the 8 am and 11 am worship services, we will be returning to the communion rail to receive the Lord's Supper (only individual cups will be offered for now, subject to change).  Gloves and masks will be worn by those serving the Lord's Supper.

The 9:30 am worship service will continue the current practice – wearing masks and receiving the Lord's Supper elements pre-packaged at the tables.

Our deepest gratitude to the Altar Guild for all the extra work they have offered to make the Lord's Supper available.  Thank You, Debbie, and all the ladies of the Altar Guild.

One Mission Forward in Faith Update

Believe it or not, our "One Mission Forward in Faith" is finally moving forward. Thanks to the architectural team at Faith and the architectural firm CDH Partners we are currently in the process of entertaining bids from three contractors for the general scope of the work identified in Phase 1.  After the initial bidding process is completed, we will be providing an update for the voters to review and approve. Once the voters approve the scope of work, CDH Partners will prepare drawings, a general contractor will be selected, and then permits and construction will follow.

Updating sound and video in the sanctuary

For many months now, we have been having soundboard issues, which hinder our on-campus and online worship sound quality and reliability. While we had hoped to update the audiovisual equipment at the time of our "One Mission Forward in Faith" building project, we really can't wait any longer and need to move forward with this update as soon as possible.

In the interest of time and wanting to be transparent with the Congregation on how the dollars pledged in "One Mission Forward in Faith" are being spent, this is to inform everyone that he Board of Directors has approved the proposal to use funds from the "One Mission Forward in Faith" to pay for this soundboard update now, instead of waiting for it to be a part of the overall Sanctuary update.

Leftover Paint

We will accept:
  • All latex paint cans or buckets (must be at least 25% full of WET paint)
  • Paint cans cannot be rusty
  • Dried paint is not accepted
  • Paint thinners, stains, and spackle are not accepted

Thank you so much for the outpouring of food donations! We were able to take 75 bags of groceries to the food pantry this last week. Our JUST ONE THING  for the month of March is one thing needed for a meal ... pasta, sauce, hamburger helper, taco kits, or soups. Just pick your favorite and you can't go wrong!  I am truly amazed with our congregation.  God's blessings to all of you!

Hope's Happenings
Events in March:

Participated in the following events so far:
  • Sent notes of caring and prayer to comfort those in need.
  • Caring in the Community via Julie Buchtrup, one of my Handlers:
On 3/5/2021, our Comfort Dog Ministry made a gift card donation of $100.00 to Julie’s neighbor, whose home, autos and pets were destroyed by fire in late February
Update on planned activities:
  • Good News...I will be back at church “in person” at the 8:00AM and 11:00AM services.
  • As we have been asked back by Manor Lakes and The Oaks nursing homes to visit their residents, I will be going with Peter and one of my dedicated Ministry Partners to both facilities on the 4th Thursday of the month (3/25).
  • Continue to reach out to people with notes of Caring and Prayer with my Team.
  • Continue to go for walks with my Handlers and Team; have to get my exercise in when I can and to keep my skills in tip top shape!
  • Please continue to submit your requests for a Zoom visit via the following methods:
  1. Complete the ‘Hope Comfort Dog Request’ form via this link:https://forms.gle/8oknB7haY7VLGgtE9
When a request is submitted, the information is sent directly to my organizer’s phone.
  2. Call the church office at (770) 973-8877 to set up a visit. Janice Schaag and Susie Glass are excellent sources for getting this information to my group.
