A stanza from O Sons and Daughters, Let Us Sing!

O sons and daughters of the King,
whom heavenly hosts in glory sing,
today the grave has lost its sting.
Alleluia!

He is risen!

(I'll just imagine you all shouting back, "He is risen, indeed! Alleluia!)

Have a blessed Easter!

- Your friendly neighbourhood communications director,
Alex Steinke

Blessed Easter

“Behold, your king is coming to you; righteous and having salvation is he, humble and mounted on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.”
- Zechariah 9:9

No king ever rode to war like this. But no king had ever come to wage battle by dying. In His Passion, our Lord Jesus gives everything He has and is; He does this to bring us from death to life and to make us His own people. And He also does all this to show us an example of self-giving love for us to follow.

As we celebrate our risen Lord this Easter, may we rejoice over the greatest inheritance we will ever receive, that of eternal life with Christ, bought and paid for through His suffering and death. May we remember He is preparing a place for us so that we will be with Him always. May we picture in our mind what it will be like when these truths are fully realized, and to praise God for them. And may we go forward with vigour in bringing this Easter message to all who will hear it.

A blessed Easter to you from Lutheran Foundation Canada.

Mark 16:1–8

Christ’s Resurrection Means That We Will One Day Be Raised

Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed” (1 Cor. 5:7). By the shed blood of Christ, the Lamb of God, eternal death has passed over us. Now we pass with Christ through death into life everlasting. For Christ the crucified One is risen! The stone has been rolled away from the tomb, revealing that the tomb could not hold Him (Mark 16:1–8). Now our Redeemer lives eternally to save us from sin and Satan and the grave, and we can live in the sure hope of our own bodily resurrection with Christ. “After my skin has been thus destroyed, yet in my flesh I shall see God” (Job 19:26). Feasting on the living Christ, who is our meat and drink indeed, we boldly say: “O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting? . . . But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ” (1 Cor. 15:54–55, 57).
