KC STREETCAR MAIN STREET EXTENSION VIRTUAL PUBLIC MEETINGS
Learn About the Latest Streetcar Stop Designs and Upcoming Construction Schedule

WHAT: The project team for the KC Streetcar Main Street Extension is hosting two virtual public meetings in order to update the community about progress made and upcoming work related to the project.
WHEN: Tuesday, April 6, 2021 from 12:00 p.m. – 1:30 p.m.
Wednesday, April 7, 2021 from 7:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.
WHERE: Both public meetings will be held virtually. Those interested in attending and participating in the public meetings must register online prior to the event. Follow this link to register: https://kcstreetcar.org/about-streetcar/mainstreet-extension/.
Both meetings will share the same information. Additionally, the public meetings will be recorded and available to view any time after April 7 on the KC Streetcar YouTube and Vimeo channels.
WHO: Project team members from the KC Streetcar Authority, the City of Kansas City, Missouri Public Works Department, the KC Area Transportation Authority, design team members from HDR & Parson & Associates, and the construction team members from the KC Streetcar Constructors.
WHY: The project team has been busy planning and designing the KC Streetcar Main Street Extension. Earlier this year, this project was awarded a Full Funding Grant Agreement of $174 million from the Federal Transit Administration which has enabled this project to move forward into final design and pre-construction activities.
During the public meetings, the community will learn about the following:
- Current utility and water work activities
- Updated streetcar stop designs and location names
- Vehicle maintenance facility design
- Power substation locations
- Green infrastructure opportunities
- Construction timelines and schedule
- How to leave public feedback using an interactive, online mapping tool
An interactive project map will be introduced during these public meetings. This map, located on the new streetcar construction website www.buildkcstreetcar.com, includes details about the project design such as overhead wire pole locations, track alignment, station stop locations, on-street parking, green infrastructure locations, and much more. Users of the map will be able to zoom-in to any location along the corridor to view in more detail what will be built at specific locations and also leave questions and feedback about these elements. Members of the KC Streetcar Main Street Extension project team will be monitoring the feedback daily, responding to questions throughout this process. The map will be open for public comment starting on April 6 and will close for comments on Friday, May 7 at 5:00 PM.
