What To Look For When Choosing A WordPress Web Host That’s Right For You

I have had it with the likes of Bluehost and GoDaddy.

I wrote a post about choosing a web host and what you ought to consider when moving away from those two.

But this is not just a rant. WP Engine and SiteGround are excellent alternatives.

If you're interested in switching to a different web host, contact me.

Your Guide to Google Core Web Vitals

This will be one of the most important things I can tell you in 2021 so heads up.

Leave it to Google to make our lives even more complicated.

Google has announced that next month they are placing mobile ahead of desktop as to how your site should be created and optimized for search.

This trend has been building for years but the coming changes are likely to upset the SEO apple cart. If your pages rank well you could be taking a hit but the opposite may prove to be true as well.

The concept is known as Google Core Web Vitals.  They are 3 metrics that concern page loading speed.

PLUGIN: WP Activity Log

if your site has more than one user then keeping track of what they are doing is more than a good idea. It's a must.

A log of user activity will be one of the first places you'll check if you suspect suspicious activity. This could come from an unauthorized user who gains admin access and is doing nasty things to your site.

Here are a few things the free version of this plug will keep track of:

1. New user account creation.
2. Who installs, activates, deactivates and removes plugins and themes and when it is done.
3. Who uploads files to the media library and when it is done.
4. Who created a new page or post and when it is done.

If you don't like this plugin you can try an alternative, Activity Log, which does not log as much user activity as WP Activity Log.

Both of these plugins are tops in their category with over 100k installations.
