Plone Community Questions 😲

"How does Plone handle accessibility?"
Plone was the first Content Management System (CMS) to be compliant with W3C’s WAI-AA and U.S. Government’s Section 508 standards for sight and motor impaired users. It is also accessible to content authors with disabilities per the level 'AA' Authoring Tool Accessibility Guidelines (ATAG 2.0).

Some of Plone’s accessibility features include:

  • Access Keys set up to closely match most international recommendations
  • HTML5 Landmarks
  • Aria Attributes
  • Alt, Title and Captions fields on Image content
  • JavaScript fallbacks modes

Plone.org has published Voluntary Product Accessibility Template (VPAT) documents detailing how it meets Section 508 standards for version 5.1 and 5.2. Visit Plone’s Accessibility page.
