Welcome to the first issue of the Idaho
Women in Ag Newsletter!

In this monthly newsletter, we will share interesting facts about Idaho women in ag, provide updates about the project, share resources developed specifically for farm women, and answer some of your questions. We are always interested in improving our programming and are happy to modify our newsletter content to meet your needs. Please tell us how we can help you achieve your farm or ranch goals. Submit your questions in the Q & A Corner section or contact me directly!

Women Farmers &
Ranchers on the Rise
Women are essential to Idaho's
agricultural industries and communities.

The Women Farmers & Ranchers on the Rise in Idaho project is led by a team of researchers and faculty from the University of Idaho who want to better understand the challenges and opportunities women involved in agriculture are facing throughout the state.

On March 2, 2021, the project launched the 
Idaho Women Farmer and Rancher Survey
Responses from this statewide survey will increase understanding of Idaho's women in agriculture and how educational programs can better support them. So far, 291 women have completed the full survey. The graphic below illustrates the survey responses by University of Idaho Extension Districts.

We want to here from as many women as possible.

How do I know if my hen or hens are laying eggs? 

Here is the answer:
There are several factors that might indicate the productivity of your laying hens. These include pigmentation, handling qualities, abdominal capacity, and molt. The University of Kentucky Cooperative Extension & 4-H publication Evaluating Egg-Laying Hens describes each of these factors and how to use them to determine the productivity of laying hens.
