Hi Reader,

I want to make sure you saw the email below.

Tuesday marked one year of The Curve newsletter. I'm reflecting back to that time of uncertainty at the start of the pandemic. Reliable reporting that accurately presents the latest coronavirus developments helped our community weather a year of unpredictability.

Your support last year has been integral to our coverage of the pandemic and the reporting featured in The Curve. Membership sustains everything we do. Please consider renewing your support for nonprofit journalism for a more informed community.

With gratitude,

Angie Mock

Dear Reader,

Today marks one year since the San Antonio Report sent its first edition of The Curve, a nightly coronavirus newsletter I write.

The early days of the pandemic brought swift and dramatic changes to our everyday lives, and as that change was happening, people suddenly had a more urgent need for information. Our newsroom acted quickly by creating The Curve newsletter. With a flood of information on this new virus coming at readers from many sources, we saw a need to provide clear, authoritative information about the pandemic as it unfolded locally.

Our team attended the city briefings every weeknight, asked the important questions, and digested and compiled that information to share with the public. Over the past year, we’ve included in the newsletter national coronavirus news, food distribution resources, information on vaccine appointments and registries, and guides to pandemic dining.

Whether you’ve been a longtime reader or just recently subscribed, I hope our community-based journalism equips you with enough helpful information to guide your daily decisions during pandemic life. A recent note from a reader succinctly summarizes what we envision The Curve and our public service journalism to be for readers: “[The Curve] has kept me feeling informed throughout the pandemic, which has been comforting. I appreciate the excellent journalism – factual even while covering controversial or emotional issues.”

This community resource exists for you – the reader, the employer, the employee, the civic leader, the parent – but it can’t exist without community support.

Your support a year ago made possible the launch of The Curve and powerful journalism about the community impact of the pandemic. We’re so grateful for that support. As a nonprofit newsroom, membership sustains everything we do. If you believe public service journalism is valuable, will you consider donating now to renew your membership?
Yes, renew my support!
Writing The Curve has been one of the most gratifying endeavors of my professional career, and we at the San Antonio Report are honored to be able to serve readers every day. Thank you for considering renewing your support of this important work. If you have a question about your giving history, please reply to his email.
With gratitude,

JJ Velasquez
