The plague of gun violence in the United States is a political problem, a social problem, a health problem. But it's also a media problem. Last year, twenty thousand Americans were killed by gun violence, but those deaths rarely emerged from the fog of coverage around politics, the pandemic, or whatever else happened to be in the news that day.
CJR is trying to change that. Next week, we'll hold a summit for media leaders to talk about a new approach to gun coverage, and we've been reporting on the issue on our website, in our newsletter, and on our podcast.
Join us at the summit, follow our continuing coverage, and work with us and our media colleagues as we seek to rewrite the narrative of gun violence in our country.
