Last month nearly 20 Stop B2H Advocates testified before the OPUC on Idaho Power's 2019 Energy Plan against the Boardman to Hemingway (B2H) Transmission project and the mis-truths in the energy plan.  They heard you!

This Special Public Meeting has been inserted, at the request of the Commissioners, TUESDAY the 6th, as a result of our compelling testimony!

Apparently, the OPUCommissioners want to ask their staff, intervenors like STOP, stakeholders like YOU, and the company more questions!

Write NOW or Speak Out Tomorrow!

Oregon Public Utilities Commission's interest is
the “least-cost, least risk” energy plan.

  • The B2H is NOT climate friendly; its a fire risk.
  • Idaho Power does NOT have an energy need.
  • STOP & Staff have found erroneous data in the plan.
  • We've exposed their green-washing.
  • The B2H is financially risky:  Idaho Power has warned their shareholders of the risks but neglected to share that risk assessment with the OPUC until STOP pointed it out in Idaho Power's Securities and Exchange Commission filing!

Let them know your feelings about the B2H transmission project at the Public Meeting on the 6th or at the Final Hearing the 15th, or in writing as soon as possible! Here are important messages that they need to hear:
  • Your preferred investments would be for fire hardening, upgrading and digitizing transmission, first, before planning for new, especially given the changing energy & storage industry;
  • You do not want to see ratepayers socked with paying off investments on an out-dated long distance transmission line;
  • You prefer investments in solar and batteries located near substations;
  • You prefer investments in micro-grids and ways to keep us more secure in the climate vulnerable future (think: storms and wildfire);
  • Anything else you choose to raise to sway the hearts and minds of the commissioners, e.g.: environment, cultural, personal or here are more :
  • Green-washing, security & alternatives
  • Financial risk, no partners
  • Id Power disingenuous info uncloaked

What Energy Future Do You Want?
OPUC takes the lead in Utility Wildfire Protections
They need to hear your input
to best regulate protections for the future.

Recently, the Governor has assigned the OPUC a significant role in oversight of utility wildfire prevention planning.  They started in December with a workshop to make temporary rules for the 2021 fire season, including things like: Public Safety Power Shutoffs (PSPS)ignition source reporting, and other aspects of wildfire risk.

On April 14th, there will be another workshop and opportunities for input on these temporary rules for the 2021 Fire Season.  You can also write to the OPUC with input.  Here is some information on the scope and schedule:
Link.

Once the temporary rules are in place in May, the work continues with topical working groups who will help create the permanent rules by early 2022.  Get involved now!

Our at-risk fire communities (that's all of us!) should try to take part in shaping our future relationship with utilities and wildfire.
