Dear <<First Name>>,
As migrants seeking safety in the United States reach the U.S. border, thousands of unaccompanied minors are being transferred to facilities across Texas. We are working diligently with our organizational partners to better understand this unfolding situation so that we can develop an effective coordinated response.
At Girasol Texas, we aim to respond in a manner that is intentional, sustainable, and trauma-informed. We are mobilizing our Detention Response Team to set up a system that connects and coordinates the people and resources that can contribute to these efforts.
This weekend, our staff will be visiting and volunteering at sites in San Antonio to further understand the challenges we face.
Next week, we plan to send you more updated, detailed information. Until then, here are a few steps you can take:
We will use our Slack channel to communicate with each other on a daily basis about our efforts.

We are not currently funded to coordinate this effort. Donations of all sizes will help cover the costs of coordinating resources and volunteers in an effective and sustainable manner. We also plan to provide mental health resource guides to migrant youth and the volunteers who support them.

|
Support Catholic Charities of San Antonio, who is directly involved in providing humanitarian aid to unaccompanied migrant youth, by purchasing items on their Amazon Wish List.
|
|
SOSi San Antonio is actively hiring for paid humanitarian relief positions with a variety of skillsets to work with unaccompanied minors in Texas.

We are grateful to our nationwide community, many of whom have reached out for ways to get involved. In the weeks to come, we will outline a plan to mobilize social service professionals, students, and others who can offer their expertise, time, and passion to our immigrant community.
With gratitude,
Ana Vidina Hernández
