New Website

With special thanks to our communications team, Metro launched its new website this week. Please take the time to update your browser and bookmarks to experience the full functionality of our site.

Blessings At the Border

Metro is partnering with the Texas Conference of Seventh-day Adventists to provide hope to children stranded at the border.

During the month of April, we will be collecting donations to this Blessings at the Border project. No amount is too small.

You can use any of our giving methods to make your contribution. Please put “Border Blessings” on the appropriate memo line so the funds may be credited appropriately. We will send a check to the Texas Conference in May. We thank you in advance for your support of this project!

Church Re-opening Volunteers

We are starting preparations to get Metro ready to re-open to in-person services.  We need volunteers to assist in the following capacities. Contact Angella Browne [ aaabrowne@cs.com or 240-316-6594] or the church office [301-853-2224] if you’d like to assist.

Volunteers for iPad Donations

As churches prepare to re-open their building, the Allegheny East Conference’s Risk Management department is requesting that they implement a registration process where members would register prior to attending in-person services. This would allow the church to record who is in the building during the pandemic, and will also allow for contact tracing in the event an exposure to COVID-19 occurs during church services. Metropolitan’s reopening committee would like to purchase two iPads and two iPad kiosks to place in the church foyer so that members who did not register online can register and can complete the COVID-19 screen prior to entering the sanctuary.

The team is seeking members to sponsor these purchases. The iPads cost $340 each; the kiosks cost $125 each. If you’d like to donate, please send via CashApp using the church’s handle [$MetroSDAChurch] or take your donation to the church office.  These contributions are tax-deductible.

Volunteers for Security Teams

So that we ensure compliance with the wearing of face masks, ensuring six feet of separation between members, socially distant seating arrangements, and other COVID-19 requirements for the church’s re-opening, the re-opening committee is seeking 12 volunteers to encourage and assist members to maintain compliance during the church service. Volunteers will be stationed throughout the building and will make periodic checks to ensure the members are safe during worship.

Volunteers for Church Disinfection Teams

To ensure the safety of our church members and visitors during in-person services, high-touch areas of the church will be disinfected every 15 minutes for the duration of the service. The reopening committee is seeking 12 volunteers to assist with disinfecting the church during services.

Contact Angella Browne [ aaabrowne@cs.com or 240-316-6594] or the church office [301-853-2224] if you’d like to assist with any of the opportunities.

Your feedback is important.  Please complete the reopening survey to share with the planning committee. Click here to access the survey!

A College Opportunity For Males

A Message from Dr. Glenda Glover, President of Tennessee State University, and her Community Affairs Liaison, Mrs. Barbara Murrell. There is a program between TSU and Meharry Medical College where the student would go to TSU for three years and then on to Meharry and finish to become an MD or DDS in 7 years instead of the traditional 8 years.  They have enough females already signed up for the program and no black males. If you know any black males who are high school seniors that want to become a medical doctor, have a 28 on the ACT, and a 3.5 GPA, they have a possible free ride for them at Tennessee State University. You can send prospective candidates' information to me: Gussie.fuller@gmail.com. The student’s info needs to be submitted ASAP. Good information! Scholars and parents do take advantage of all opportunities.
