Construction Starts

Starting Monday, the golf course renovation is shifting into high gear. Here’s what you can expect:

Everything starts with the work below ground and will require large pieces of equipment to install. To properly irrigate the new course, we are installing 24.6 miles of irrigation pipe from the 8” main trunk lines (which have to go under 18 community streets) to the 1200 individual heads. Trenching and boring under roads have already begun.

Coinciding with the irrigation will be extensive drainage work to move water where it belongs especially during the rainy season. This too is primarily underground work requiring heavy equipment to install.

Large rocks have begun to be delivered around the entrance. There will be many more. These are to be used for the walls on holes #4 (entrance) and #7 (across from the tennis courts). While they might look rough now, Clarke will get a final product looking something like this picture below:

Once the underground work is complete, the dust will really start to fly. Clarke will start to rototill every fairway, rough, tee box and green grinding it up to a depth of about 8-10” getting it ready for the next stage.

The current schedule is to start on hole #9 followed by #8 and then continuing on 1-7, but this schedule is very volatile and can change at a moment’s notice.

We will experience 2 constants during construction: Lots of dust and back-up alarms. While we regret any inconvenience the dust and alarms may cause, it is an unavoidable byproduct of this type of activity. There is no getting around the dust that will be in the air. Your lanai will get dusty especially if you live on the course.

At any point in time there might be 100 workers on-site. It’s imperative that residents stay off the course during construction and keep alert for the constant traffic of construction vehicles on our roads.
