Leader Feature: Volunteer Appreciation
Every month we will have ideas, tips, and resources for you to use during troop meetings or as part of your Girl Scout year.
April is National Volunteer Appreciation month and April 22nd is Girl Scout Leader's Day - it's time to celebrate the Girl Scout volunteers in your life. We know, you are one of those volunteers and deserve to be celebrated. So here is a HUGE thank you, from us...
We know how hard you work each and every month to provide the Girl Scout experience for girls in your service unit and troop. Below we include some ideas for how to thank the parent volunteers in your troop.
Have a truly outstanding volunteer? Someone who went above-and-beyond? Then consider nominating them for a National or Council Award. You can learn more here.
There are also many great ideas on how to thank the volunteers in your life found here (scroll down to the bottom). Including:
- Award your volunteers with the volunteer pin for your level.
- Award them with Girl Scout patch for their service position (Troop Volunteer, Cookie Parent, Co-Leader, Outdoor Expert, STEM Expert, etc.)
Looking for something you can do if your troop is still operating virtually? Here are a few ideas:
- Use Google Slides to create a virtual card that your scouts can each add a personal note to from the safety of their own home. You can make a copy of this template and "share" it with your scouts or create your own.
- Post one of these banners or one of these graphics on the volunteer's social media page:
