Three short weeks ago I promoted another Rosé/Old Vine Field Blend combination (Post & Vine). Coincidence? They're a Napa Valley winery with vineyards in Lake County. They plan to build a winery on one of their Lake County vineyards in the near future. The Dancing Crow Rosé, Lake County 2020 ($20) is 83% Syrah, grown with Rosé intent, and 17% Sauvignon Blanc. Smell it and you'd think it's from Provence - dried herbs, peppercorns, citrus zest, not fruity. Berries, plums and deep orange flavors plus a round, pleasing texture come through in the taste, signaling a classic California character. And dry - very dry. Full review.

Dancing Crow "Old Stake 1901 Vineyard" 2018 ($33) is a field blend of 32 (yes, 32) grapes, with an emphasis on Zinfandel, Alicante Bouschet and Cinsault. The vines date back to 1901. They grow together, get picked together then fermented together. Fresh, briary red fruits, French cooking herbs and black pepper are initial impressions.
