In recognition of National Poetry Month in April, The TECHE Project is announcing the Bayou-Ku Children’s Poetry Contest. Open to ages 5-12, this contest encourages kids to write a persona haiku poem about any plant or animal found along Bayou Teche. Selected poems will be published, and first-place winners in age-level categories will receive prizes. Prizes include a Geaux Paddle t-shirt and kayak outfitting services for two with Bayou Teche Experience. Poetry Contest judge is TECHE Project Council member and Iberia Parish educator Margaret Simon.
