We’re tremendously honoured that Pictures of the Year International (POY) announced HIDDEN as their 2020 ‘Photography Book of the Year.' This category recognizes the best documentary visual storytelling in a book, and is especially meaningful given the fact that POY is among the oldest and most prestigious photojournalism competitions in the world. This important accolade for HIDDEN is a testament to the importance of these stories and the dedication of the book’s entire team of contributors.

Unbound Project: How Buddhist Nun Shih Chao-hwei Brings Activism to Her Religious Practice

While many of her colleagues and fellow Buddhists in Taiwan and beyond have shied away from activism, Buddhist nun Shih Chao-hwei views it as essential to her religious practice. What began with a successful initiative to ban fish hooking in Taiwan in 1992 has evolved into a life of ceaseless advocacy work, especially on behalf of animals. Through her leadership she encourages others to see beyond their individual contributions in favor of celebrating collective accomplishments. “This is another kind of training for selflessness.”
