You’re Invited: the FIND Symposium

Dear <<First Name>>,

We are pleased to announce the FIND Symposium, “Finance in Displacement: Refugee Integration in Jordan, Kenya, Mexico, and Uganda.” This virtual event will take place on April 20 and 21, 2021 and will feature key insights drawn from research conducted in 2019 by Katholischen Universität Eichstätt – Ingolstadt (KU), Tufts University, and the International Rescue Committee (IRC). The Symposium is supported by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the Open Society Foundations (OSF).

Our research aimed to better understand how refugee, migrant, and asylum-seeking households manage their livelihoods and financial lives, and if, when, and how they integrate into their local economies. We sought to learn about their financial coping strategies — saving, borrowing, remitting, insuring — and the factors and connections that helped or hindered their strategies. As part of this understanding, we uncovered which financial services supported their efforts and which were less relevant. Through our findings, we hope to provide recommendations to policy makers, humanitarian and development agencies, and other actors whose work aims to improve the lives of refugees.

This event will take place online via Zoom. Please RSVP here. All registered participants will be emailed a Zoom meeting link and password from the organizers before the conference. Please do not share this link and password with anyone. For more information on our speakers and program, please visit our website.

Sincerely,

The FIND Team
