HUNTER THEATRE ON ICE TELLS AN AUSTRALIAN STORY

With the Artistic Season coming to an end, the NSWISA community has been excited to view the latest offering from Hunter Theatre on Ice with their retelling of the 2020 Australian bushfire story. It is a story that is still very fresh in our minds and Hunter Theatre on Ice share this story in a way that really connects with spectators.

Heidi Beyer, coach of Hunter Theatre on Ice, explains the performance as follows:

The year is 2020 and the country is being engulfed in flames. A farmer finds himself without water and unable to protect his home. It’s a tough time fighting the fires and rescuing wildlife, but with the help of firefighters they pull through. Then the rain comes. Everyone is relieved and rejoicing that they made it but they don’t forget those that passed. The koala and the tree needing water to thrive again is a reminder not to forget.

Hunter Theatre on Ice will be performing their routine at NSW State Artistic Championships. The event will be live streamed so make sure you catch all our skaters' performances. The live stream link can be found on our website or click here.

NOTICE OF SPECIAL RESOLUTION TO THE NSWISA CONSTITUTION
Given the ongoing need for flexibility and the employment of virtual meetings in these uncertain times, The Board has determined that the Constitution of the Association should be updated to clarify the details of the option of holding General Meetings electronically. While this is provided for in the Act, it was felt the inclusion of this detail in the NSWISA Constitution would be beneficial. Consequently, the Board has proposed a Special Resolution to be voted on at the upcoming AGM to incorporate this into the NSWISA Constitution. Please review the Notice of Special Resolution and the proposed updated Constitution which includes a new clause, clause 27.8. The amendments are highlighted in yellow for your convenience.
ISA ONLINE COMPETITION - APRIL
ISA have announced an online Benchmark competition will take place next month, giving skaters the opportunity to compete from 16th to 30th April, 2021. NSWISA have asked its skaters to complete an Expressions of Interest form to gauge the level of interest for this competition. Thank you to those skaters who completed the form. NSWISA is working through the information to confirm how the competition will be organised. Keep an eye on your inbox for further information. ERINA ICE ARENA OPEN FOR SKATING
NSWISA is excited for Central Coast Figure Skating Club to be able to return to their home rink. After over a year of skaters having to travel to for their training, the rink was reopened in January.

Adele Leghorn, who runs the business with her family, told NSWISA "Erina Ice Arena reopened in January to an amazing response from the Central Coast community. We are thrilled to be implementing our vision for the rink. One area of focus for us is to create a training culture around our figure skating sessions with the addition of an off-ice training space upstairs (pictured left). We are also encouraging the general public to become involved in our learn to skate programs and inspire them to move into the world of figure skating."

Thank you to all the Clubs who accommodated the CCFSC skaters and their coaches at your figure sessions while Erina Ice Arena was closed.
TESTS
NSWISA have added another test to the NSWISA 2021 Calendar. The test session will be held on 16th of April at Canterbury Ice Rink from 2:45pm - 5:30 pm. All test sessions are open to all skaters from all rinks and NSWISA would encourage skaters to take advantage of the opportunities at the time the skater is ready.

To book a test, please visit the NSWISA website, or use the following link. For information that will help skaters on the day of their test, NSWISA has published Test Guidelines for Skaters. This document is intended to assist skaters with information on how to prepare for the test and what to expect on the day.
VOLUNTEERING
No event can be held without the efforts of our volunteers. Through volunteering, our skating families are able to connect with others who share the same interest and passion for the sport. We are fortunate that we have a very dedicated volunteer group, however, we are always looking for more volunteers to ease the workload of our regular volunteers at events. NSWISA requires its volunteers to have a WWCC number to ensure that our sport is prioritising the safety of our young people. A WWCC number lasts for a period of 5 years and can be applied for at Service NSW.
In order to verify the status of a volunteer, the organising committees will need the surname, the WWCC number and the date of birth of each volunteer. Having this information handy will make the preparations much easier for the organisers of events and will ensure that our sport will be providing a safe environment for our skaters.
