MISSION STATEMENT

Murray Christian Fellowship is a non-denominational / interdenominational campus ministry committed to sharing the great news of a real transformed life in Christ with students, faculty, and staff at Murray State University.

As the semester keeps moving on, let us stop and reflect on the importance of new beginnings and faithful endings.  You may have heard this verse from John’s Revelation (22:12,13) quoted in many places:

“Behold, I am coming soon, and My reward is with Me, to give to each one according to what they have done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.”

I would like to share two testimonies with you of God’s faithfulness in the beginnings and endings of life:
Alyssa Vandiver (‘22) and Beth (Boxley) Penick (‘79).

For some, like Alyssa, God is moving in a new way in life, opening up a new community of people who will support her as we all keep walking with God. She joins the MCF family in her third year at Murray State … better late than never for a new beginning.

For others, like Beth, even though her life has ended way too soon, God was fully faithful to the end.

Let us take encouragement and hope from these two women of faith.
And remember, God’s compassion, grace, patience, loyal love and faithfulness finds us at the right time and never leaves us at any time.

Alyssa Vandiver
Hi, my name is Alyssa Vandiver, and I am the student spotlight of the month. I am a junior this semester and majoring in Agriculture Education.  My love for agriculture is rooted in my hometown of Henderson, KY where I was a part of the Henderson County FFA Chapter. Naturally, my passion for agriculture followed me to Murray State.  When I am not in class, working, or worshipping at MCF, I enjoy late night ice cream runs with my friends or going home to see my family.  I was introduced to MCF through my best friend from Henderson, Maddie Blanford. She was an advocate for MCF when I began my semester at Murray State and pried me out of my comfort zone to try something new. Now I am always eager to learn about our God and what all he has done for us.
MCF is not only a place for worship but a shelter to fellowship and share your fears about college.
Beth Penick
Feb. 19, 1961-Feb. 13, 2021

The MCF community mourns the passing of Beth Penick (1982). Beth came to MSU in 1978 and immediately became involved in Murray Christian Fellowship. She served as the student representative on the MCF board of directors and in that capacity became a dear friend to Dan and Mary Butler, who were beginning their service with MCF at the time.

Beth met her husband, Kevin, while working at WKMS in the summer of 1980. It was love at first sight. They were married in December of 1980 and held their wedding reception at the MCF house.

After her graduation in 1982, Beth and Kevin were involved in establishing the ministry of B.A.S.I.C. Training in Hardin. Beth served as the first treasurer for that organization and Kevin was the first volunteer manager.

In 1993, after several years working at a computer software company, Beth found her true calling as a teacher. She taught high school math and science, first at Christian Fellowship School and eventually for 15 years at Graves County High School. She was a challenging but kind educator, and had a profound influence for Christ in the lives of many of her students. Although she left this life too soon, we are grateful for the life that Beth lived and look forward to seeing her again in Heaven.
