NSERC Alliance Grants


Alliance grants encourage university researchers to collaborate with partner organizations, which can be from the private, public or not-for-profit sectors. Amount: $20,000 to $1 million per year for one to five years. If you are a Canadian university researcher who is eligible to receive NSERC funds, you can apply on your own or as a team with co-applicants who are also eligible academic researchers. Learn more or contact Paolo Marcazzan


BCCAT Call for Research Proposals on Post-secondary Transfer

Faculty of Education Research Infrastructure Support Services (RISS) Grants

RISS advances excellent research by funding activities typically ineligible for support from research grants, including grant matching for external grants requiring contributions (e.g. SSHRC's Connection Grants and Partnership Development Grants), postdoctoral fellow  benefits, pre-conference planning, and fostering research collaboration. Apply to join a CIHR Institute Advisory Board

CIHR is recruiting members to join its Institute Advisory Boards (IABs), which provide advice on health research priorities. IABs meet at least twice a year and members are reimbursed for travel and accommodation. CIHR encourages under-represented groups to apply. SSHRC Explore Grants

SSHRC Explore Grants support high-quality research in the Faculty of Education by providing small funds to support early stage research activities (e.g., pilot research, archival research, synthesis or re-analysis of data collected through previously completed projects). CIHR Training Grant: Health Research Training Platform (HRTP) Pilot

The HRTP Pilot will support the development of research leaders of tomorrow by equipping trainees and early career researchers with the experiences and skills needed to lead high-impact, interdisciplinary health research careers in a rapidly evolving research landscape.The maximum amount per grant is $400,000 per year for up to six years. SSHRC Connection Grants

Connection Grants support events and outreach activities geared toward short-term, targeted knowledge mobilization initiatives. These events and activities represent opportunities to exchange knowledge and to engage on research issues of value to those participating. CIHR Team Grant: Food Security and Climate Change in the Canadian North

Letter of Intent deadline: Tuesday, April 27, 2021

Faculty of Education Jacqueline Farquhar Endowment for Children’s Mental Health

UBC Public Humanities Hub Public Engagement Award

Two new UBC prizes recognize public humanities engagement. One prize recognizes contributions of a tenured/tenure-track faculty member (research or educational leadership streams). The other prize recognizes contributions of a graduate student, postdoctoral fellow, or adjunct faculty. CIHR has launched an Indigenous component of HeLTI. This opportunity will support the establishment of one I-HeLTI Intervention Cohort Research Study, and an I-HeLTI Collaborating Centre to support activities of the cohort research study. CIHR Indigenous Gender and Wellness Team Grant

Deadline to register: Tuesday, June 22, 2021


This funding opportunity is the third and final phase of a larger initiative for Indigenous-led teams to implement ideas through research and action-oriented, community-based participatory projects. The goal of these projects is to improve wellness for Indigenous Peoples from a gendered perspective. A total of $7,000,000 is available to fund approximately fourteen grants. UBC CFI Innovation Fund (IF) Internal Process and Timeline

UBC Internal deadline: Thursday, September 30, 2021


In anticipation of the next CFI IF call, UBC's VP Research and Innovation (VPRI) and Institutional Programs Office (IPO) will begin institutional planning starting Fall 2021.
