We've shared the call before, but wanted to re-raise your attention to the NL Degrowth Conference on 'Caring Communities for Radical Change' that is due to take place in The Hague in August. It is still possible to submit proposals, so please take a look and consider. Unusual formats are most welcome. You may especially find the stream on Decoloniality and Degrowth of interest.

Apart from that, this week we have something for the audio- and videophiles among you in stock. Check out the new podcast with Parinita Shetty, Sayan Dey and Lata Narayanaswamy. Plus the recording of the ECR Roundtable with half of CT's Writing Collective discussing on Decoloniality and Reflexivity.

Solidarity,

Your Convivial Thinkers
Have you wondered what raï means? Find out.
In this week's raï, we are sharing both text and sound - up to you what you prefer. Maybe simply enjoy both?!
We are very happy to feature guest podcaster Parinita Shetty, who has engaged in conversation with fellow Convivial Thinkers Sayan Dey and Lata Narayanaswamy. The three of them are exchanging about how collaboratively engaging with knowledge and activism with a wide range of people both within and outside institutionalised academic spaces is crucial. The world we inhabit offers us several different learning opportunities. However, academic structures frequently end up valuing a limited kind of expertise. Whose cultures, languages, and experiences are considered the default? What kind of knowledge matters? How do you seek alternative communities of knowledge beyond the restrictions of the structure you work in?

Remember that in the last newsletter we announced a roundtable on 'Unsettling Knowledges: Reflexivity and Decolonial Thinking'? Five members of the Convivial Thinking Writing Collective - Vanessa Bradbury, Grace Ese-osa Idahoso, Siti Maimunah, Chris Millora and Enid Still - gathered to discuss the practice of reflexivity in relation to decolonial thinking and what that means for ‘early career researchers’. Don't fret if you missed it, the recording is now ONLINE.

Also, please read up on their articles on Reflecting on the ethics of PhD research in the Global South: reciprocity, reflexivity and situatedness  and Challenging the way we know the world: overcoming paralysis and utilising discomfort through critical reflexive thought
