Principal Corner

Dear Niwot Elementary Families,

Happy Spring!

I hope everyone had a restful and relaxing Spring Break.  It is always such a well-deserved break for students, staff and families as we head into the busy months of April and May.

A reminder that this Friday is our first Friday Support Session. If you are interested in signing up your student(s) for this please contact the front office for availability and to sign-up. We are only taking 15 students per session. This week, due to Late Start PD, both sessions (K-2, 3-5) will take place from 1:00-2:30pm.

Our 5th Grade Leadership Team is sponsoring a fun and creative dress-up day on Thursday: Business on Top and Lazy on Bottom. See below for more details regarding this fun day!

There will be more specific information to come this week but please know that a state waiver has been approved regarding state testing. As a result, CMAS testing will be modified this year. 3rd and 5th graders will only be taking the Language Arts portion and 4th graders will only be taking the Math portion. Please be looking out for more specific details regarding this.

See you all back at school on Monday, March 29th.

Sincerely,

Nancy Pitz
Principal
We will be offering some Friday Support sessions beginning after Spring Break. These will take place each Friday (excluding the non-student contact day on April 30) with the goal to support your student and to provide a quiet place for students to come and do their work. Please know that these are not tutoring sessions. These sessions will take place in the library (and a classroom when both sessions are at the same time) and will be supervised by various staff members. We will max each session at 15 students, and you will sign-up your student/s and check space availability by calling the school office at 303.652.2828. The deadline to sign-up is the end of the school day on Thursday of the week you wish to attend. Please also know that we will open the sign-up at the beginning of each week for that Friday session. Traits of an Innovator: INTERDEPENDENT | RISK-TAKER | THINKER | CURIOUS | PERSISTENT | CREATIVE

Hey, innovators! Join us for a week this summer at Innovation Academy for tons of fun as we find solutions to the world’s most pressing issues! (Well… from the perspective of an elementary-aged student!) We’ll use the human centered process called Design Thinking to uncover needs, brainstorm ideas, and bring some of them to life!  Check out this link for more information or to register! Registration opened on March 1!

Safety is our top priority for students, staff, and families. With that, we ask you to please not use your cell phone while driving through the kiss and catch line, and throughout the parking lot. Thank you for your help in keeping everyone safe at pick-up and drop-off.
Do you need some Niwot Elementary spirit wear?  NES PTAC organized the remaining items from our spirit store! Go to https://www.niwotptac.com/spirit-wear-store.html to order today. The items that you order will be delivered to your student's classroom.
