Amended chart and new heritage blog
Building heights must come down.
Planning applications Parkhouse St - Comment now on: Three further schemes underway:
  • 35-39 Parkhouse St (Dolphin Living)  TBC 10-11 storey height
  • Burgess Business Park/Camberwell Union/Peachtree - the largest site proposing 14 storey tower, taller than the chimney on site
  • Cottage Green/Scaffold Yard/Vision Development - consulting on designs proposing 7 storeys
Each scheme is considered individually for planning. But the heights and relationships between them inter-lock and are used to justify each other. Tall buildings along the southern edge of Burgess Park will impact on the woodland ecology, wildlife and attractiveness for people.
Apology: Resending the newsletter with amended image and corrected height axis.
FOBP is continuing to campaign against the developments along the southside of the park. We believe that the 10 and 11 storey towers along the park edge are:

- too tall, inappropriate height and mass, the site is not designated for tall buildings in council planning policy

- the buildings will block the sun overshadowing the park, impact on ecology and wildlife and how people currently use the woodland area

- out of scale with St George's Church tower

- the height of buildings is not in keeping with the local area or the park edge

We are all exhausted with attending exhibitions and responding to planning applications. But we must ask you once again to respond and object to these applications.  Read the FOBP response to the Joseph Homes scheme.

Thank you to the thousands of people who have signed the petition, and the hundreds who have responded to the planning application. Still time to comment on the application 21/AP/0239 . The St Giles ward councillors have confirmed they will speak against the application at the planning committee.
Hedge and tree planting Burgess Park
Can you help with tree and hedge planting?
Thousands of tiny saplings for new hedges and woodlands are being planted by volunteers. More hedge planting will take place over the next few weeks. Book to join the volunteer sessions run by HandsOn London. More planned for early April.  More about the tree and hedge species.
