The Virtual Display Room is Now Open - Submit Your Models Today!

The Virtual Display Room is Open for Your Models and More!

Registration for the 2021 Railway Modellers Meet of BC (RMMBC) is now open.  The fun starts Saturday, May 1st and continues every Thursday evening in May (6th, 13th, 20th and 27th).  In addition to the Keynote Presentation, great clinics, and virtual layout tours, we have the display room: the heart of every Railway Modellers Meet.

The display room will be open throughout the meet and you are invited to send in photos and information about any project or modelling activity you want to show to the community. Email photographs of your project to the Display Coordinator along with the information in the model entry form.  Your photos will be incorporated into the display and meet the modeller*

In addition, we are hosting a virtual "Meet the Modeller" session, but with a couple of new twists. One of the features of an in person meet is the ability to drop into the display hall from time to time and have a look at models and have a chat with other modellers. We wanted to capture a little more of that feeling this year, rather than reviewing all of the models during a single marathon session.

The display has lots of room - essentially it is unlimited online.  People can include just about anything they shows off their hobby projects - the focus is not limited to rolling stock - your display can include structures, trees, a computer program, layout plan, throttle design, or just about any other project you want to talk about with other modellers. Pretty much anything that helps you with your hobby enjoyment is perfect for the display room.

The display will be open for the entire meet, so people can continue to add projects after the meet starts.  If you are not able to attend a specific evening session, please let us know so we can ensure their model is covered on a night they will be present.  And remember: this is not a contest.  Everyone is welcome, from beginners to the masters.

"Meet the Modeller" takes no real preparation and you do not need to have notes or memorize anything.  We will show your photos and ask you what they show and just let it flow from there.  The Display Coordinator will be there to lead the discussion; you'll basically be having a conversation about your display items with him.

With the new format, we are setting aside the last 30 minutes of each Thursday evening event for "Meet the Modeller". This allows us a minimum of 2 hours spread throughout the meet, with the option of running a little longer if necessary. The first "Meet the Modeller” session will start at approximately 8:45 pm Pacific time on May 6th, (and on each subsequent Thursday through to the end of meet).

In addition, we will try to group models in relation to the clinics and other content presented each evening. We'd love to hear what you have to say about your projects.  The Display Room is always one of the highlights of every meet.

Registration is open; sign up today!  It's free, and it is your entry into what will be another great railway modelling event.  We'll see you at the Meet!

The fine print: * We are making participation in meet the modeller optional. If it's just "not your thing", feel free to submit your models to the Display, but tick the “Will not participate in meet the modeller” box on the model entry form. We'll put your models in the display room but won't call on you during the "Meet the Modeller" segments.
