#WEARECRUISE HIGHLIGHTS THE LOCAL IMPACT

Hello <<First Name>>

CLIA today released the latest video in our online series #WeAreCruise, telling the stories of the many local businesses in Australia and New Zealand that have been devastated by the suspension of cruising.

As we continue to advocate strongly on behalf of travel agents, suppliers and other cruise industry stakeholders, these videos help reinforce our message that cruising is a vital part of our region’s economy and helps support more than 25,000 jobs across Australasia.

This latest video tells the story of Select Fresh Providores, a fruit and vegetable wholesaler that ordinarily plays a major role in providing the local produce served in the restaurants of our region’s cruise ships.
In it, the company’s General Manager Steven Biviano explains the enormous impact the cruise suspension has had, not only on his own business but also on the many local farmers whose produce supplies cruise ships.

Like travel agents, these suppliers are among thousands of Australian and New Zealand businesses who depend on the $5 billion a year that cruise tourism generates for our economy.
To help spread the world and be a part of our campaign, look for the video on our Facebook and YouTube channels, and share among your own audiences.

With extensive new health measures in place, now is the time for governments to open a pathway towards resumption in Australasia, so we can revive economic opportunities for communities throughout the region.

Stay safe,

Joel Katz
Managing Director, CLIA Australasia

COVID-19 UPDATE

In the past week CLIA has mounted a major new campaign in the United States, calling on health regulators to open a pathway to resumption in the world’s biggest cruise market.

This mirrors the advocacy efforts CLIA is undertaking here in Australia and New Zealand, as well as in other key regions around the world.

In America, CLIA has rallied cruise industry stakeholders to support its call for existing cruise restrictions to be lifted, so that planning can begin for a phased resumption of cruise operations by the beginning of July.

Similarly in Australia and New Zealand, CLIA is calling for agreement on pathways that allow cruise lines to progress towards initial domestic operations.

In all countries, resumption will be supported by the extensive new health protocols cruise lines have committed to worldwide. With measures including 100% testing of all guests and crew, they are among the most comprehensive COVID-19 protocols of any industry worldwide and are already working successfully in several countries overseas.
CLIA is continuing to lobby hard for a phased and carefully controlled resumption of domestic cruise in Australia and New Zealand (pictured is CLIA Managing Director Australasia Joel Katz (right) with Australia’s Deputy Prime Minister Michael McCormack this week).

We still need support. To find out more about how you can back CLIA’s advocacy efforts and raise our voice among politicians, visit www.WeAreCruise.org.
