  • Register Now
  • After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.
  • Questions from attendees are encouraged and can be submitted when you register or during the event.

Kiss the Ground
California's Climate Smart Agriculture Programs

The League of Women Voters of California's Food, Soil, and Agriculture team invites you to a panel discussion about California's Climate Smart Agriculture Programs and the carbon sequestration potential of agriculture.
  • Wednesday, April 21, 12:00 – 1:30pm
  • Register today for Zoom Webinar: http://bit.ly/LWVC_Kiss
  • Registrants are encouraged to watch the movie Kiss the Ground (free on Netflix, or $1 on Vimeo) before April 21.
Kiss the Ground movie has generated a lot of hope in fighting climate change. Hear from experts how different agriculture practices can not only reduce water use, improve soil health, and, yes, sequester carbon. Our panelists, Nicole Lederer of Environmental Entrepreneurs (E2), Jean Merrill of CalCAN, and Tim Bowles, UC Berkeley assistant professor, will discuss the potential of agriculture to combat climate change, California’s Climate Smart Agriculture Programs and how you can support these efforts.

Help the League - Board Openings

We are looking for people to join our Board of Directors for the July 2021 - June 2022 year. The positions currently open are:
  • Secretary: Learn more about the LWV by taking the minutes at board meetings.
  • Membership: Contact new members and help them learn about the League and find activities that will interest them.
  • Voter Editor: The Voter includes articles about what our local league is doing and includes information about LWVUS and LWVC. Requires a bit of writing and is perfect for someone who keeps up with LWV news. We have members who have held these positions and are available to mentor a new board member.
Our board meets the first Monday of the month at 7:00 pm. For now, those meetings are via Zoom but the new board in July can decide whether they wish to continue to meet via Zoom, in person, or use a hybrid model.
Interested? Please contact Sue Graham, Nominating Committee. I would love to talk to you!
