Hello <<First Name>>,

That’s right, I’m retiring. But at this rate it won’t be for another 30 years. Under the present circumstances I’m doing well. Evolution Dive Travel on the other hand is not. Cancellations of trips to Palau, Papua New Guinea, Mexico, Truk and two years back to back of the North Carolina Wreck•Shark Shootout have set me back enough where retirement before 83 is not possible. I’m not giving up though. It just means that I will have to continue delivering amazing dive opportunities and photographic advice for a few more decades. Let me fill you in on what has been happening since last year and what I hope will be yet to come.

I continue to watch over the liveaboard M/V Odyssey in Truk Lagoon while the country is closed to non-citizens. I arrived in this island nation in February of last year when the country shut down to prevent the arrival of Covid. The Odyssey has been busy this past 5 months with non-for-profit public outreach expeditions to the numerous lagoon islands delivering vaccines to the peoples of Chuuk. The campaigns have been successful but we still have a way to go before we reach a number that will satisfy the government for reopening. Unfortunately, many FSM citizens are vaccine skeptics and thus delaying the process. The government in response has now mandated vaccines for all citizens and in response numbers are on the increase. So when will we reopen? That is a million dollar question I do not have an answer for. There is no official government commitment to a date but I’m hoping for the 1st quarter of 2022. Once non-citizens are allowed back into the country my relief will be able to enter where at that time I will take a long break. What will I do and where will I go will be determined on the date of departure. Read on for the details of scheduled trips….

Truk Lagoon Rec•Tec Expedition 2022

February 26 - March 12, 2022 - I’m optimistic this epic dream itinerary double header trip to Truk on board the Odyssey will take place. While shutdown the myself and the crew have been working feverishly on the Odyssey to make her look and run the best she has ever been. I have space available for both weeks. If cancelled due to the pandemic there is a 100% refund or you can reschedule to a future date. You have my word on that.

North Carolina Wreck•Shark Shootout 2022

June 1 - 5, 2022 - After two years of cancellations I am going to pull out all the stops to reboot this awesome event at Olympus Dive Center. If you are a wreck diver who happens to love sharks and even dabbles in underwater photo/video then this event is for you. Reunite with old friends, meet new ones and maybe, just maybe go home with some cool prizes such as a trip to Truk or some awesome dive gear. I’m accepting applications with no deposit required at this time.

Truk Lagoon Rec•Tec 2023

March, 18 - April 1, 2023 - This trip is filling up very fast and comes as no surprise to me. Travelers are itching to get back out there and stack up some frequent flier miles once again. As of right now I am only accepting applicants who will join me for both itineraries. More Truk Odyssey dates for 2024 are in the works.
