GREEN UP DAY: WHERE ARE THE ADULTS?!
Hi Friend,
This photo was taken from the very first Green Up Day in April of 1970. Governor Deane Davis flew by helicopter to different parts of Vermont's new highway to praise volunteers (children wandering around with boxes and sacks) for their contributions and hard work. The optics could be improved today if the Governor buzzed around the state shaking hands (with adults) in an electric car or a BETA helicopter, but this origin story is typically Vermont in its community activism and wholesomeness.
Generator will be hosting its own mini Green Up Day, Saturday May 1st 2021 from 9:00AM-1:00PM and we would love your help!
We will use the event to make outside Generator as sparkling clean as inside (thank you to our amazing VOLUNTEER SQUAD 2020/2021!) It will be cathartic and fun to commune safely outdoors and celebrate spring with renewed gratitude.
Light refreshments will be provided at lunch for everyone who participates. Follow the link below to see what to bring (BOOTS, MASK, WINCH, CHAIN) and how to RSVP. Thank you!
