Nuclear's Role in Meeting Carbon Targets
followed by our AGM
| Zoom meeting on 22 April, 8pm - 9.15pm
Join us for an insightful talk to discover how nuclear power can play a key role in meeting the UK Government's 2050 goal of net-zero carbon emissions and learn more about Fusion Energy.
When we consider the number of connected electronic devices we all now possess, our individual power demands are rising dramatically. And that’s before you consider transportation and the millions of additional electrified vehicles that will need to draw power from somewhere. This all adds up, with demands on our national grid estimated to double by 2050.
- How will we meet the increasing demand without carbon emitting fuel sources and what are these zero-carbon energy sources?
- What are the forecasted transition paths and what does it mean for electricity generation?
- What is fission and fusion and how close are we to commercial realisation of fusion energy?
We will be discussing these questions and more with our gues speaker, Dr Kevin Howard (System Thinker & Vice President of Global Systems Engineering). The event is FREE and everyone welcome!
We hope you can stay on for our annual AGM that will start at 9pm and finishes at 9.15pm.
