Morning. The city released the video of a Chicago police officer killing Adam Toledo in Little Village in late March. Footage provided by the city shows the 13 year old had his hands raised — and appeared to be without a gun — when he was fatally shot. At a certain point, we have to ask ourselves what's the value in continuously resharing this trauma?
Videos of police killing civilians, despite being released in response to calls for transparency and accountability, cause harm to the families of the victims who have to relive their loss, to people who have lost loved ones due to police violence, and to the public at large.
