Erik Lehmkuhl - MCB Outstanding Graduate Student, Service

Danny Brower Scholarship Winners


The Danny Brower Memorial Scholarship was established by the department of Molecular and Cellular Biology to honor the professional accomplishments of Dr. Danny Brower, Professor and scientist for over 25 years at the University of Arizona. In the Fall of 2007, Danny passed away unexpectedly. He was an inspiration to many, not only for his spirit and intellect, but also his ability to see the great potential and many connections between basic and translational science. Danny was widely recognized as an accomplished scientist and academician, as demonstrated by his numerous publications and service as the Head of Molecular and Cellular Biology.
The 2021 Danny Brower Scholarship Winners are:

MCB Microscopy Photo Content Winner

2021 was our third annual MCB microscopy photo contest. This photo contest is open to our graduating seniors and the winning photo, or photos, are used on the MCB commencement program and on the MCB website. 

Our 2021 winner is Hannah Ball. Hannah is a senior majoring in Biochemistry and Molecular & Cellular Biology. Read more about Hannah and the photo taken in the Zarnescu lab.

MCB Research in the News
Erik Lehnkuhl is first author on a recent paper published in Neuropathologica Communications. Erik, along with co-authors n the Zarnescu Lab, use fruit flies as a model organism to study neurodegenerative diseases. In their recent study, the team studied the role of a protein called TDP-43.
