67 years ago I was born and named Wendy Lane. 5 weeks after my birth I was adopted by my new family and became Rose Rushbrooke. I have been married twice and kept my adopted name both times. One name change is enough thank you.

Most grateful to have survived, and mostly thrived, for this long. My husband always tells me we are all the otters of the universe - it's our way to keep an eye on things and look around.

I have just come off a deadline panic. Made it. Exactly to the day. But the anti-climactic time after is a bit dissonant. I slightly wander around thinking and not doing much of anything. However, I was still in a beading mood and wanted to work on the concave/convex problem with bead embroidery. This is when you find a totally gorgeous cabochon but it has an inny. Think of how a waning/waxing moon is typically presented and you'll know what I'm talking about.

There are several ammonites in my stash and lo and behold, they have concave (yes, that's the bit which curves inwards) edges. Cue problem-solving thinking.

Well, I did do a pretty good job of keeping the curve in line, but not 100% happy. Love it enough to try again. See what you think - have a look at my Ammonite Pendant.

We now carry ALL the line of Invisafil from WonderFil. It's a very fine 100wt cottonized polyester (which means it's strong!) in 2500 meter spools. If there are any missing it's because you weren't quick enough off the mark!

So I get to talk to my friends in the UK via Zoom. Probably get to 'see' them more now than I did when I actually got on an airplane and flew over the Pond. Last time we chatted one of my girlfriends told me she was knitting bears. After I picked myself up off the floor and snapped my jaw back (never thought of her as a knitter), I asked for some pix.

Are these not the most adorable girl panda bears you've ever seen? With clothes on! And there are three of them.

She told me where she found the pattern - on LoveCrafts. I've included the link to the page the search gave me for panda bears and couldn't find this particular pattern. But I think there are several designs there which would be perfect. Go find a panda bear pattern and knit me one, with clothes on ...

Many moons ago I headed a small knitting group which met at a local yarn store. The gentleman in charge was Bob Kelly who trained under Kaffe Fassett - the muse himself. Even more moons ago I can remember my mother stitching some of Kaffe's fabulous needlepoint patterns. And not that long ago I bought fabric designed by Kaffe, saw vivid quilts hanging on walls, and saved his knitting books when I moved. He's a Pandora's box of colour and design. He has a new book out which celebrates each area of creativity. Plenty to keep your heart happy.

Over the weekend we celebrated The Gathering of the Guilds. This is normally an annual high class craft show held in the downtown Portland, Oregon. And when I say high class, I mean high class. The work for sale is staggering. If we ever get back to large exhibitions and trade shows try and go. It is SOOOOO worth it.

However, now we are all learning to seek out experiences online and needless to say (but I will anyway), the Gathering of the Guilds 2021 took to the internet. I was trolling through the artists and headed to the fiber section. Not 100% sure why this lady considers her craft medium to be fiber, the only thing that might constitute fiber is the thread she used to weave the pieces, and the fact that she weaves at all. However, Wynter Rayne (really, that's her name, brilliant), shows under the fiber section. Unfortunately she doesn't have an online store but you can contact her if you are interested in pursuing her work further. Have a look at Wynter Rayne's work on the Gathering of the Guilds showcase.

The show will continue for several weeks, possibly a year so you have time to go through each artist's page. You never know what you might find!

Pepper is unimpressed

'til the next time,
Rose
