Poshan Gyan...A house of Nutrition and Health Resources

Dear colleagues,

Malnutrition, poor diets of children, adolescents and women, anemia and other nutrition issues remain a challenge that must be addressed. An effective way to do this is by developing and deploying relevant communication tools, materials and guidelines which are not only reliable but can be easily accessed by anyone. If these tools draw from behavioural insights the efficacy increases.

In this issue of POSHAN Weekly, we are happy to announce the launch of the Poshan Gyan by NITI Aayog, in collaboration with Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and Centre for Social and Behaviour Change, Ashoka University. Launched by the Vice-Chair of NITI Aayog on 13th April 2021, Poshan Gyan is an online repository of health and nutrition resources and tools available in various audio-visual-print formats. It has the potential to become the DIKSHA (Digital Infrastructure for School Education) portal of Ministry of Education, NCERT.

Organised around the following thematic areas, the resources aim at improving nutrition practices of caregivers of children under 5, pregnant women, lactating women, adolescent girls, frontline workers, women groups, PRI members, civil society.

1. Anemia Prevention
2. Antenatal care
3. Newborn Care & Breastfeeding
4. Complementary feeding
5. Growth monitoring
6. Immunization
7. Vitamin A Supplementation
8. Diarrohea Management
9. Diet Diversity
10. Sanitation/WASH
11. Deworming
12. Food Fortification
13. Girl’s Health & Education
14. Nutri cereals/Millets

We encourage all to access and use the Poshan Gyan, popularize and optimize the resources on the sites. You could also use the “add content” feature for sharing  content for collaborative building the material on the portal!

Kind Regards,
Arjan de Wagt
