Ayatullah Sayyid Ahmad al-Madadi al-Musavi (b. 1951) is one of the most prominent scholars of the Hawza of Qum. Born in Najaf, Ayatullah Madadi studied under Ayatullah Khoei for seven years attending his most advanced lectures (dars) of fiqh and usul. He also spent two years with Ayatullah Sistani before he left for Qum. In Qum, he commenced teaching the most advanced levels of Hawza studies that span over three decades and which he continues till today. His scholastic background and unique method of analysing history and hadith literature have attracted scores of senior scholars and emerging students to his lectures.

Irfan

Module 10 of the ICRA Course on Irfan that took place last weekend was overbooked, and extremely well delivered and insightful!⠀

Thank you to all our wonderful participants, and especially to Dr. Isa Jahangir for his well thought out and illuminating analyses and for taking the time to answer all the questions.

Participants were asked what the most valuable and enjoyable aspects of the Irfan module were. Some of the responses received included:

"Dr. Jahangir had a good grasp of knowledge."

"I found the ICRA module extremely engaging and interactive. Dr. Jahangir made the topic really simple to understand."

"Amazing lecturer."

The next module is Logic, which will take place after the Holy Month of Ramadhan. We will confirm the date and name of the lecturer once these have been decided.

Ladies' Online Retreat

To mark international women’s day CoEJ facilitated an online women’s retreat titled ‘Connections through Conversations’.

The event was attended by members of various CoEJ Jamaats and was a great opportunity to reconnect with each other albeit via zoom.

Sister Tahera Kassamali engaged the ladies in an interactive session on emotional intelligence as an Islamic paradigm. Furthermore, the ladies played a quiz in teams creating a sense of competition and laughter.

Some of the participants said:

“I really benefitted from today’s session.”
