Easter 2021

Alleluia, Christ is risen!

While worship was of course socially-distanced and congregational singing only possible outside, Easter 2021 was celebrated across our Diocese with increasing confidence, creativity and commitment.

Can you sponsor an ordinand?
St John’s Church in Wimborne has over a number of years supported ordinands at Carlile College in Nairobi who are training for the church in South Sudan. The Revd Peter Breckwoldt says: "A particularly fine student is the Revd John Martin (Ngeraango). He is a lovely man, married to Mary, and has a great passion to reach both young and old with the gospel. In a recent email correspondence with me he told me of the new work he has been given involving young people and children in the Yambio Diocese as well as his responsibilities of being a vicar for a local parish." Can you help support him? For info, please email Peter.

The Revd Carol Langford
Bishop Karen and Archdeacon Antony say: "It is with great regret that we pass on the news of Carol’s death on Easter Tuesday after a long illness caused by a brain tumour. Our thoughts and prayers are with her husband Mark and their sons Dan and Tom in their tragic loss. Carol was a talented and creative priest with a heart for mission and a deep love for God and His people. She did not fear death and loved the Easter season, so for her it was a fitting time to be 'called home’. Carol served the parish of Lilliput and the newly formed West Purbeck Benefice with much commitment and dedication and will be sadly missed. May she rest in peace and rise in glory."
Hedley Ringrose
Rosemary Ringrose says:
"We are very sorry to share with you the sad news that Hedley died peacefully at home yesterday (15th April) with his family by his side. We are so proud of his incredible achievements that have positively impacted the lives of so many people during his ministry, but also of his dedication to his family. We are very grateful for all the thoughts, prayers and love that have helped to support us in recent weeks and will continue to do so. With the current restrictions, the funeral in Calne is likely to be close family only and instead of flowers we are looking to commemorate his life and ministry through charities which are meaningful to him. Please feel free to share this sad news as appropriate."
