Shabbat Programming for Saturday, April 17th:

11:00 am ET: Join ShirLaLa, Ellen Allard, and Stephanie Guedalia in the
Shabbat ShaMorning Garden for the best wiggle giggle love fest in town. Recently described by a parent as “human, touching, magical, kind and loving,” this program has been unexpectedly nourishing for everyone involved. We began in the first week of Covid quarantine, March 2020. This Shabbat marks our 55th gathering. There have been so many learnings about human nature, collective grief, collective celebration, seasons and story, cycles of time. The Shabbat ShaMorning model is aptly a practice for both our very youngest and for ourselves. It is a practice of rest and renewal, safety, and tender care. Come for the imaginative prayerful play, stay for the Sabbath bliss. Please join this session with this LIVE link at 11:00 am ET

11:30 am ET: Please stay on for the deeper conversation with Shira and Ellen: Creating a Meaningful and Reflective Shabbat Experience: Please join this session with this LIVE link at 11:30 am ET

1:00 pm ET: Challah Prince with Idan Chabasov: Most of the Challah bakers think that a great Challah starts with a good recipe, but what they don’t realize is that the stages of making the dough and the way you treat the dough is as important, if not more important. The truth is that most of the recipes out there are pretty much the same – With or without eggs, sweeter or not. After all, flavor is only a matter of personal taste. In this session, we’ll start with making the dough together. Get the Challah Recipe here. (For a gluten-free version click here) Mix the ingredients, kneading, and give some love to our new creation. This part is very meditative and restorative in nature. When your dough is resting and rising, I will demonstrate how you can braid from the classic Challah shape to stylish braidings, including my signature Royal Challah braid technique! (Feel free to make dough during the session AND if you want to braid along with me, have the dough prepared and ready to go with the 2.2 lb. of flour recipe. Register for the Challah Prince session HERE.

2:00 pm ET: Chicken Soup for the Soul and the Body with Tamar Andrews: Let’s make a body and soul-nourishing pot of chicken soup. Many cultures share a similar belief in the healing properties of chicken soup. I will share a chicken soup recipe that with the same Ashkenazi base, you can make Mexican Tortilla, Moroccan, Chinese, Russian, Tunisian, etc. I have FOURTEEN variations and all recipes including alternatives will be provided. While cooking, we will discuss the history of chicken soup, and why the kitchen is the center of Jewish life and Jewish ECE programs. Be ready to share what makes your Bubbie’s or Family’s chicken soup unique. Simple as well as gourmet variations will be offered. Register for Chicken Soup for the Soul and the Body HERE.

7:30 pm ET: Havdallah and Reflection: Join conference attendees for a time of reflection on this past week of learning during the 2021 ECE-RJ Virtual Conference and end the time together with a beautiful havdallah service. Register for the Havdallah and Reflection HERE.

Please reach out with any questions you may have.

Shabbat Shalom,
Shelly Sender, VP of Learning, ECE-RJ
