Dear COS Families,

You will notice below that I am sharing another positive COVID case reported within our school community.  This marks our fourth case within one week, and is a far higher number reported than any other week this school year.

We are working closely with MDH to determine the best protocol and response to our increase in positive cases.  We also hear from MDH that most schools are experiencing similar increases and are having the same conversations.

I am writing to give families a heads up, that if we continue to have increases in positive cases, especially in situations where cases do not feel connected, we will be pivoting to school-wide, full distance learning.

If we do need to pivot to full distance learning, it will be swift, and with little notice, as it will be for the immediate safety of the students, staff, and their families.  Please make arrangements now with your family to be prepared for if this should happen.

I ask that we work together to be as preventative as possible in having to fully pivot as a school community.

Some ways to help with this:

-Do NOT send your student to school if they are experiencing any symptoms.  We also know that many cases are asymptomatic.  However, if a student is symptomatic we need them to stay home.

-Follow safety protocols and recommendations during the school day, as well as outside of the school day.

-Communicate closely and be fully transparent with the school of any close contact situations, positive cases within the family, etc.

-MDH recommends families consider having their students tested every two weeks.

Thank you for your collaboration and attention to this matter.  Please feel free to contact me with any questions.

Sincerely,

Bridget Kramer

Dear Families,

We were notified by the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) that a member of the Community of Saints Regional Catholic School community has tested positive for COVID-19. It is possible the person was able to spread the disease while in the community on this/these date(s): 4/12. We cannot for privacy reasons share details about the person. At this time, they have been told to stay home and away from other people (in isolation) until they are well and can no longer spread the disease.

Individuals identified as close contacts were notified immediately and MDH guidelines have been followed.

If you have not been contacted, your child is not considered a close contact, and there is nothing special you need to do.

Because the spread of COVID-19 from unknown sources is widespread in Minnesota, you should continue to watch your child for COVID-19 symptoms, which include:

  •  Fever of 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit or higher
  • New cough or a cough that gets worse
  •  Difficulty/hard time breathing
  • New loss of taste or smell
  • Sore throat
  • New nasal congestion/stuffy or runny nose
  • Nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea
  • Muscle pain
  • Extreme fatigue/feeling very tired
  • New severe/very bad headache
  • Chills

If your child gets symptoms, they should stay home and you should talk with their doctor or other health care provider to decide if they need to see a doctor and/or to get tested for COVID-19. Please review the following resources:
