Why we do campaigns
The Alinker is a high quality custom product, we produce ethically, we make sure that all people in our supply chain are treated well, we are carbon neutral (+7 trees per Alinker produced), we pay living wages and employ Alinker users (otherwise unemployed), we are about to launch a cradle-to-cradle program, but all that has a cost, yet we have one of the lowest margins in the bike or medical device industry.
We also understand that our 'sickcare' system drives people into poverty after getting a diagnosis, accident or stroke for example.
So we asked ourselves, how do we make the Alinkers accessible for everybody? Building ACCESS is the crux, and this is why we do the campaigns.
We were the first company in the world to have an integrated crowdfunding platform where people can do their own campaigns, but with the support of the whole Alinker community. The campaigns are designed so that people do not handle funds themselves, because when you are on disability or welfare, you are not allowed to receive funds. So, once the campaign completes, we ship you an Alinker! Done! No fuss!
These are the campaigns live right now. Please visit them and see how you can support, sharing, donating, anything helps. When these 4 complete, we'll have done 170 campaigns!
So far we completed 166 campaigns successfully! Imagine! 166 people who got support from complete strangers who cared to show up, friends and family who were happy to step up. That has changed lives in itself.
Some of the impact stories,
also see the BE hive below for Emma-Rose's story
Sharing is essential
The campaigns are about sharing. Most people have no idea what life is like when you live with MS or what happens after you have a stroke. Isolation is often a bigger problem than the symptoms of the disease itself. With the campaigns we can share and educate people, because it can happen to all of us.
So campaigners generously share their stories, others share their funds to support the campaigns.
It is not about asking for money, it is creating an opportunity for people to learn and show up with #generosity. Being generous resonates with who we are as humans. We understand generosity deeply and when you practice it, you feel so much better.
When we create a movement where people simply show up for each other, it might get a bit ‘safer’ and less ‘scary’ to engage with each other.
The collective campaign
Selma Blair had the idea to get sponsors for the campaigns, and we developed a collective campaign, the one that feeds all. That first Collective Campaign raised $48,750 and helped fund more than 50 campaigns.
Since we have launched a second Collective Campaign (now active and raised $21,156), the "Radical Generosity campaign" and sponsors can make larger donations without having to visit many individual campaigns. From this collective campaign we can support the individual campaigns that are not doing well, not having traction, or from people who have lost their support network. So to ensure that everybody has a fair chance to complete, we use the funds of the Collective Campaign to pay it forward. When individuals raise more than the goal, it feeds back in the Collective Campaign too. The one that feeds all!

BE's hive
Emma-Rose was campaigner #152 to complete. Recently she went through a few bad weeks. For this video she wrote: "Yay I'm back on her after 20 days...... it wasn't perfect but it went better than I imagined it would ."

and then she just shared this very emotional post on her Facebook:
ALINKER UPDATE
After being knocked sideways by poor health I just wanted to share an AMAZING milestone that happened yesterday (day 3 of my comeback).
Until yesterday I've NEVER held Mirabelle's hand whilst walking
