Xwi7xwa Library launches library training course on Canvas for Indigenous teacher candidates

Xwi7xwa Library has launched a new Canvas course for students in the Indigenous Teacher Education Program (NITEP), allowing students to self-enrol in the course to access a comprehensive introduction to UBC Library. The course was developed for Indigenous teacher candidates, and includes five modules that cover topics such as library resource searching, citing sources, and using research guides. Learn more

ABC4 mentioned the anti-discrimination response training program developed by Dr. Ishu Ishiyama (ECPS) that provides an active witness methodology for prejudice reduction, human resource enhancement, and organization and community development. ABC4

Speaking out against anti-trans legislation in the United States

NBC News covered a letter and petition addressed to the Biden Administration, calling for direct action on the wave of anti-trans bills targeting trans youth. The letter, which has garnered signature from more than 17,000 educators, was authored by Dr. Harper Keenan (EDCP), the Robert Quartermain Professor of Gender and Sexuality Research in Education. Annual conference of the Canadian Society for the Study of Education

The Canadian Society for the Study of Education (CSSE) is hosting its annual conference online from May 29 to June 3, 2021, in conjunction with the Congress of the Humanities and Social Sciences and host organization the University of Alberta. The draft conference program and information about registration are now online. Please note that both Congress and CSSE have waived conference fees for Black and Indigenous students for this year’s conference. Learn more
